For now my foods are: eggs (mostly raw yolks, occasional omelets), fish (salmon, anchovies) including sushi, goat milk, goat cheese (when I can afford it), parmesan cheese, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, bok choy, romaine, spinach, squash, asparagus, green pepper, broccoli, onions, tomatoes, carrots, rice- jasmine/brown, oatmeal, blueberries, banana, grapefruit, oranges, whole wheat pita, olive oill, lemon, raw nuts (usual holiday) WINE! I like drinking the water from cooking the above green veggies as a tea.
Binge foods: WINE! Sour apple candy, WINE! pizza, pringles, chili with cheese and sour cream, white castle, WINE! onion dip etc. etc.
When not binging, I'm really leaning towards an Okinawan, Cretan approach. I haven't had pork in ages, but would like to make an Okinawan type Pork soup/broth. I'm fascinated that Inuit used sea water for cooking much of their soups. I've stopped eating butter but dip pita in olive oil daily. Not ruling butter out, just need more info. I'm eating my carrots cooked and added into a blender with goat milk and 1/2 a banana or something sweet. A spinach and goat milk smoothie with some papaya is good too.
Wish list: raw tongue.
I don't like eating out. It's too easy to gain weight. I have to learn to order what I want even if it's not on the menu.
Thanx for visiting
Best wishes,
Avalon

You know what's really good, Ava? Avocado smoothies. Try one - I bet you'll love it. Especially delicious with coconut milk, but really nice with anything. It almost tastes like creamy melon, but not sweet. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

Parmesan-crusted hash browns!
Grate a medium potato while a lot of butter is melting in your cast iron pan over med-low heat. Just before adding potatoes, throw down a thin veil of shredded parmesan cheese, then add shredded potatoes. Cover and cook until potatoes seem done, and first side is browned. Press down potatoes, salt unbrowned side, then rub down with a stick of butter, and finally sprinkle with parmesan (press lightly with spatula to make sure it's sticking), then flip and cook, uncovered, until golden.
You can't really taste the parmesan in the end, but it ensures that both sides crisp up like a dream, and it adds a savory element.
I shall be having some this weekend, as my PMS treat. |
