|

I like eating raw yolks, but find it a bother to tap the yolk from the membrane. What are others' opinions? To drain from membrane, or just pop and down in the yolk membrane? Anyone see a problem with just popping the yolk membrane and all? I've heard of the whole enzyme issue in the whites, but is this membrane really all that much of a problem?
Edited: tapping the membrane for the yolk contents is also inefficient and wasteful as well, I've found; One more reason for me to move towards just popping the yolk, membrane and all.
Thanks everyone.
J

I think unless you have problems with egg whites (like a histamine reaction, for example), then there's no good reason to avoid the membrane. My God, you said the word membrane a lot in that post. Membrane. Membrane. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

The Wai Diet is big on slicing and dripping the yolk and I felt as you mentioned- a big waste. I wanted as much yolk as I could get. Do like I do and as I say, plop the yolk in a shot glass and Go!
One reason Wai gives if I remember correctly is some just don't like the 'membrane' period. Like grosse point blank. I'm so used to it now it's like something something.
Good Luck and stuff!
How ya been?

Thank-you, ladies. Been doing well, thanks for asking. I've been popping about 4 membranes a day now _________________ VLC/high fat since 11/18/06 | 5'11'' @ 143 lbs. | Indeterminate Colitis 06/23/08 | Accutane user 8+ years ago & trying to heal | Egg/dairy free since 05/25/08 |

In saying this I am already going there, but I'm not going to go there and derail this thread into another one of those threads. _________________ "Man lives on one quarter of what he eats. On the other three quarters lives his doctor." |

That is how I do it, too. I didn't go to wai for acne but rather in search of a healthy diet. I still follow wai and am learning more about no carb.
I am thinking something like, in the summer I'll do wai but in the winter do low carb. That seems like it may be what our ancestors did.
I do think it is strange to eat tropical fruits in the middle of winter.
I'm going too far off topic... |

Even though I have been a tater-heathen of late, I'm still popping yolks and have not once, fallen ill from one. Knock on membrane Of but course why do I get the runs every time I eat raw eggs?
