Somehow these two words appeared together in my head. I thought it sounded kind of catchy so I googled. Turns out its the favorite customary drink of tibet or something. I guess if a whole country is on this stuff it must be at least half decent. Actually its pretty damn good and its great for evening out your protein and fat score so you make it to 20/80 without eating butter sticks like snickers bars. The official recipe involves rancid yak butter and some churning machine so I will give you the supermarket version. Makes 4 cups of butter tea.
Put 2-3 bags of strong black tea (any black tea is fine) in your teapot while you bring it to whistling. Let it whistle for another couple minutes. Tibetans brew the tea for hours but I'm happy with this.
Get a thermos or blender or some stirring device.
Put at least 2 tb of butter in your container along with some salt. Use a smaller pinch if your butter is already salted.
Pour 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream over the butter and salt
Pour the boiling tea into your container and shake/stir/blend until it is thouroughly mixed
enjoy
warning: I did this in a martini shaker and the steam created pressure and blew the lid off and this stuff went everywhere and burned the shit out of my arm. So whatever you do hold it tight.

It sounds good to me. I've melted butter into drinks many times. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

I wouldn't mind eating butter sticks like snickers bars. I have to stop myself from scoffing butter.
Not yak butter though. Yak butter is truly vile. |
