OK, this is not a hugely inspirational success story, but I just want to report that 6 days into carnivory I have not gained any weight. With the amounts I'm eating, plus all the butter, cream, and high fat cheese, I couldn't really believe the claims that this woe wouldn't put on weight.
At the moment, my weight is about right--don't want to either gain or lose. On my other woe, I weighed and measured everything, and checked my bg, trying to avoid eating on top of higher bg readings. My weight kept slipping down, and it seemed awfully complicated--couldn't seem to eat enough to maintain weight and still keep steady bgs. Plus I was hungry and obsessing about food all the time. This sounded so much simpler.
I put away the glucometer as well as the scale when I started, so I have no idea what my readings are. However, I'm pre-diabetic, so not testing for a couple of weeks while I adapt isn't life-threatening.
Other changes--skin smoother, dry bumps on face are gone. My mind is much clearer and I'm actually enjoying my work again. Looking forwared to week 2!

That's great, Maggie! You're taking to zero-carb a lot better than some of us have in the first week! I take to it quickly, too - I know some people feel really lethargic or get the 'induction flu' at first, but aside from carb cravings in the beginning, I never really had any of that. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

Thanks, Adwred. I was eating very low carb for a while before I started this, so really it was just a matter of dropping those last 20-30 grams (and feeling permitted to enjoy eating again!). Not a major shift, except in attitude and belief.
