Bruce, from AV Skeptics has discovered the new "High Everything" diet. Eat all the fat, starch and moderate protein you want, cheat every now and then with junkfood and binge on simple sugars on the weekends, that's the plan. Bruce has reached his best health on this diet.

btw: The AV Skeptics Forum is gone, the new group is called "High Everything Diet".

The 10 Golden Rules of the High-Everything Diet.
Otherwise known as: The Diet To End All Diets.

1. Eat all the fat you want, especially saturated fats like coconut oil, butter,
cream, whole milk, half-and-half, cheese, beef, and lamb. The other good fats are
macadamia oil, cocoa butter (not chocolate), with olive oil perhaps in small
amounts. PUFAs are best avoided, like mayonnaise, salad dressing, chicken fat,
turkey fat, and other things. Pork fat can be used sparingly.

2. Eat high starch (50-150g per meal) - bagels, white pasta or brown, white bread
or whole wheat, white rice or brown, corn, white flour, potatoes, beans, lentils,
whatever. Do not have any fear of eating starches. They will help you heal. Do not
believe anyone who tells you that starches are fattening. It is only true for
unhealthy people. There is nothing fattening about starches for a healthy person
and starches will help you to get healthy faster than anything (with fat). Eat at
LEAST one bagel per meal, 2 potatoes, 1/3 cup rice (dry), or 2-4 pieces of bread
so that you have 50g of starch per meal, minimum. And the more saturated fat you
have with that starch, the faster you will heal.

3. Eat all the protein you want, animal or vegetable. Do NOT eat a vegan diet and
preferably not vegetarian either. Aim for like 10-60g protein per meal.

4. Eat natural sugars cautiously, like fruit, fruit juice, maple syrup, honey
(preferably "unheated" honey), etc. Eat the starches before trying any sugars.

5. Eliminate refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and other refined sweeteners
from your daily diet. It's OK to have small amounts, like in bread and so forth,
but don't eat anything high in refined sugar (like more than 10% of its calories
or with sugar in the first few ingredients).

6. Eat unlimited calories. Eat when hungry. Preferably eat before you get hungry,
in anticipation of hunger. Eat at least 3 meals a day.

7. Once or twice a week, you can have desserts and junk foods - preferably high in
saturated fat and low in PUFAs, like cheese cake, tiramisu, Haagen Dazs ice cream,
chocolate, coconut macaroons, or pancakes with tons of butter and maple syrup.
Higher fat is better, so look for ice cream with cream as the first ingredient
preferably. Low-fat diets are counter-productive..

8. Eliminate all coffee, tea, chocolate, and stimulants from your regular daily
diet. You can have these once or twice a week, but not regularly. Also, don't eat
ANY artificial sweeteners or diet sodas. All they do is make you hungry and fat,
messing up your body's ability to respond to foods naturally. And don't eat toxic
protein powders, protein shakes, or bars.

9. Don't be afraid if you gain weight. You have to get healthy to lose weight, not
the other way around. The healthy person will lose weight on the high-everything
diet, if they have weight to lose. The unhealthy person will gain weight, if they
need to gain weight. This is not anything to worry about. You are healing.

10. Challenge yourself to eat more fiber and starches, by eating things like bean
burritos, multi-grain chips (ex: Sun Chips), rice chips, and so on. These will
help strengthen and repair your digestion. Start with small amounts and work up.

Everything most people *think* they know about diet and health is 100% wrong.

Fast food is healthy - burgers, pizza, tacos, burritos, pasta, hot dogs, etc.
Junk food and sugar are healthy - as long as you don't eat them all the time.
Fast food can heal you to a degree unattainable by the highest quality foods.

Diets Don't Work. Calories Don't Count. Carbs Don't Count. Fats Don't Count.

Death To Diets. Eat Everything and Let Yourself Heal.

Hiya -

nah I think these people are really serious!  I'm following with great interest.  Apparently it is HFCS and PUFAs that make people fat.  However....I never ate those things growing up and I was still overweight.  But then I wasn't eating lots of animal fat either, so it's possible they might be on to something.  Also my husband has avoided the usual mid-30s 'gain' by eating my food (tons of animal fat and some meat) plus a starch for his meals.  No sugar whatsoever and he doesn't like fruit apart from berries.  He's thin as a rake.  But then even with starch his carbs are probably no more than 150g/day which is still low compared to most people.....

I think there are 3 women doing the HED, one of whom is overweight - be interesting to see the results.

The only thing that makes HFCS different is that there is slightly more fructose. Fructose goes straight to the liver and not the muscles. The liver has a much smaller capacity for carbs than the muscles do, so any spill-over is stored as fat. But if you're eating a high-starch diet, your muscles will quickly saturate and that spill-over will turn into fat, too. Unless you're constantly doing muscle de-saturating exercise.

The one thing that makes me wonder is whether combining the carbs with fat is a bad idea, or beneficial. One would think that using fat to blunt the insulin response is a good thing. It would also match many (all?) traditional diets, which universally contain carbs and starches, combined with lots of fat. But insulin is what shuttles the glucose into your muscles and gets it out of the blood. On the sat fat for health forum, the reigning belief seems to be that you should make sure your fat intake isn't too high with your carb meals and that fat should be consumed between meals, to prevent the glucose from hanging around in the blood and to keep insulin awake and doing its job. Which I can also understand. Insulin is anabolic. The body relies on it for building muscle. If you're in a constantly insulin-resistant, catabolic state, then that might be an issue, too.

I have no idea!  Dunno Read

Where does alcohol fit into this regime? If I'm allowed to drink copious amounts of alcohol, then sign me up! Yup

If you really read more Bruce's posts it's by no means high everything diet.
It's more like moderate protein (or even low protein), moderate to high animal fat and high (but only by our low-carb community standards) starch intake.
No stimulants, no booze, no PUFAs, no AS etc. So it's not that bad.
But comparing it to what competitive eaters can eat in one sitting is a joke.

But the name is catchy so he can market it and make some money.

It's high everything for somebody who spent last few years eating raw lean meats and berries or shit like that.

It's true. 10 - 60 g protein per meal could be low as 30 g in a day. Although I'm sure that's not what he means. It could be as high as 180 g!

How do you eat any animal protein, but avoid poultry and pork fat? Does that mean you can eat duck, but you have to eat it skinless and cover it in beef tallow? Or eat no pork belly, but mainly lean pork with coconut oil all over it? Laugh Aside from the no PUFAs thing (I eat a lot of duck and chicken fat and chocolate), that's sort of how I eat already! Oh and I drink booze and coffee. OK, I guess it's not like how I eat. Roll Eyes

He will probabbly make into his 80s eating like that anyway.
It's how people used to eat minus the bullshit about avoiding pork and chickens.
And the chances are that he will feel better most of his life than those poor souls eating raw lean venison in hope of detox.

I think there is something about healing and better tolerance to nearly all foods. But healing means not only food but also fresh air, moderate exercise like walking, stop smoking, no stimulants for healing the adrenals, avoding food which makes you ill, perhaps SIBO. Low Carbing has many benefits to heal stomach & gut or even zero carbing is great to heal the intestines. Bruce did all diets i know and perhaps he has healed himself although he wrote that his digestion has worsened on 7 burgers or so and he his acne came back, he claims because of healing lol

IMO the only mistake Bruce is doing is assuming that good tolerance means that something is beneficial/neutral for him.
It just means your body is strong enough to cope with the stressor.
So maybe he feels fine because he eats cooked animal protein and lots of saturated fat not because he eats lots of starch or fiber.
Rats fed coconut oil were poison resistant while those fed vegetable oil were dying. It doesn't mean poison eaten with coconut oil is beneficial.
It only means that coconut oil makes you strong enough to cope with the poison.

Isn't semen mostly protein? In that case make sure to consume ample fat with it to avoid rabbit starvation.

"Seminal fluid... is composed of dozens of chemical components. The base of seminal fluid is primarily fructose (sugar) and proteins, with many other trace minerals and substances. Here's a listing of some of semen's ingredients:

Sugars: Fructose, sorbitol, inositol Proteins and amino acids: glutathione, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), creatine Minerals: Phosphorus, zinc, magnesium, calcium, potassium Vitamins: Ascorbic acid (vitamin C), vitamin B12, choline Hormones: Testosterone, prostaglandins Body byproducts: Lactic acid, urea, uric acid, nitrogen...

Semen is a source of highly concentrated, high-quality protein. In dietary terms, it's comparable to egg whites or gelatin. Besides protein, semen contains high concentrations of some minerals, such as zinc, and trace amounts of other important nutrients, like calcium and magnesium."

Incidentally - don't know if this will come in handy,  when pregnant and almost ready to give birth, prostaglandins are supposed to "ripen" the cervix and sort of help things out.   Supposedly, and I haven't bothered to look into it, the cream that they rub on a woman's cervix in the hospital actually contains prostaglandins from pig semen.    AND, I also read that ingested prostaglandins are even more effective than topically applied!!  So, when you're pregnant and like omg please just please let this baby come out PLEASE  then it's a good thing to have as much sex and give as much oral sex and swallow as possible.   I never bothered to swallow until I read that while pregnant.   If you have pregnant friends, you could get something good out of it by relaying this information.

I wonder if swallowing semen raises the sex drive, too, due to the testosterone content. A vicious cycle, indeed. Yup

I wonder where the fructose in semen would come from.  Our bodies dont produce fructose, that I'm aware of.  So it would have to come from diet, then.  It seems on a ZC diet, there would be no fructose in the semen.  That's probably why my wife won't blow me anymore.  Laugh

If the body cannot really make fructose it means that all meat diet make you sterile for a while. Too good to be true.
I have to check it.

It does come from the diet, I believe. I wonder if there's such a thing as fructoneogenesis?  Laugh
