Ok here's an update. I just ate a small piece of liver yesterday which was the first piece I had in about 5 days. Well I woke up in the middle of the night with diarrehea and I am sure it was from the liver because this happened the last time I ate liver. I am not sure if it was from too much vitamin A or not but liver now gives me diarrehea and it never did that when I first started eating it. One of the symptoms of vitamin A toxicity is diarrehea so I think I reacheed my threshold for vitimin A. Bigsea, if you are continueing to eat liver everyday let me know how you feel when you are about 2 weeks in. This is when I started experiencing these symtoms and they only happen when I eat liver even in small amounts. I am almost sure it is from too much vitamin A but I want to be sure.

Overall my sex drive has increased slightly but it is not to the point where I would like it to be.

thats very strange. what else are you eating? be very specific, every little food item. you shouldn't be overdosing on it that's pretty hard to do, even eating 1/4- 1/2lb a day wouldn't get you too much. keep us updated

Diarrhea is the first symptom of many overdoses of vitamins.

I get it when I od (well, okay od is kinda a harsh term) but yeah, od on vitamin C. But I'm talking MASSIVE amounts like 10-20-30 grams per day.

I'm learning this kinda the hard way, if you eat it and it makes you feel bad, stop eating it....

I take no vitamins and I eat about 3-4 lbs of beef per day. i eat about 65-75% of calories as fat. What ever I eat usually has nothing on it- no salt or seasoning. Sometimes I eat eggs in the morning but not as much anymore because I get pimples on my legs from them. For dinner I usually will have some salad with oil and vinegar on it because my parents make me eat it but I don't think I go over 15 g carbs per day (15 g is an overestimate).

Unless there is something else in the liver that gives me diarrhea I think the problem is from too much vitamin A. I eat the liver rare and only sear the outside in the frying pan. The last couple of times I have tried eating it I got the same symptoms. This never happened when I first sarted to eat liver everyday. Only after 2 weeks in. It makes sense though because in the last few weeks my body has gotten over 200,000 IU of vitamin A. Your body can only store so much. Plus I have been working outside eveyday in the hot sun which means I have been getting lots of vitamin D. Your body needs less Vitamin A when you get enough vitamin D from what I've read.

its most likely the greens you're eating. when i eat all meat for long periods without eating any fiber or that shit then i have a salad when out with friends your body doesnt know how to digest the nasty vegetable fiber. try taking the salads out and your bowels will thank ya

I don't think, from the sounds of it, that the salads are a new addition, Bigsea. Plus, a small salad of greens would probably not cause diarrhea. If so, there is a bit of a problem going on there. It's not like he's eating a mountain of corn and raw spinach, here. I think the liver is probably the culprit, if he notices a definite correlation.

It is definetly without a doubt the liver. I have been eating salad for years. Now I try to avoid it and only eat it when I have to. Salad doesn't bother me anyway. When I was at college I ate nothing but 100% all beef (0 carb) for about 3 1/2 months. When I came home I reintroduceed the salad because my parents make me eat it and I didn't notice much of a difference. I agree with you though that it is better not to eat it but it is definetly not the cause of diarrhea. It was the liver. I know this because hours after I eat it I will have diarrhea and when I don't eat it I don't have diarrhea.

By the way I never had any problems with my intestines or digestion even when I was eating high carb. No ulcers, acid reflux, IBS, colitis, constipation ect. The reason I do this diet is becuase of the energy I have and the way it makes me feel. Not to mention that my skin is clear my emotions are stable and I notice new things getting better all the time. Plus a bunch of other things but I don't feel like posting them. Really the one major problem I have now is with my sex drive like your saying. Its not a major dysfunction but it is definetly lower than before and I want find out the reason. I continue to read everyday and search for the cause. Eventually I will find the reason.

OK, so getting back to the subject of this thread, although it might make a slight difference, it doesn't sound like liver is really making huge strides for anyone in the libido department. I suppose it's not necessarily a vitamin defficiency that is causing the problem?

Anyone tried zinc foods? Oysters, anyone? Wink

Maybe it's the high iron content of liver. That can cause diarrhea.

I doubt it. Liver has 1.4mg of iron per ounce. Beef sirloin has about .4, but I only ate about 1/4 lb so that would mean I ate 5.6 mg just from liver. Since I eat about 4 lbs of meat everyday I get 25.6 mg total from meat. I highly doubt that the 5.6 mg is going to have a significant impact.

I am telling you it is from too much vitamin A. I could be wrong but I need somone to eat as much liver as I did to see if it has the same effect on them. Either way, I will not eat liver for a while becuase it gives me diarrhea.

I agree, it is the Vitamin A. I get toxic effects very quickly, from Liver, or anything else that is high in A. I think some people are much more sensitive to it than others.

One way you could check, is just to take a pure Vitamin A supplement, and see if it causes the same symptoms.

No I have not tried oysters. Beef has more than enough zinc so I really don't think the problem is not getting enough zinc. I am starting to believe that this problem is not caused from a low vitamin or mineral intake even though I was not getting the amount of vitamin A that I should have been getting. I think it has more to do with hormonal changes that occur when you eliminate carbs from the diet. Like I said before I stopped weight lifting at the same time I started doing 0 carb so maybe I just am not used to the changes yet. I will start to weight lift more often now and will see if I get any change in sex drive.

I did read it but no one else said anything, which is why I was bringing it up again. Yup

nope I tried going raw once before. For about 1 month. Did nothing but make me occasionally sick. Besides that I cook my meat rare so there is minimal oxidation. I think it has to do with eating grain fed meat and not grass fed. I am experimenting with this now and have gotten on and off great results. I just need to play around with it more. I will keep you updated.
