Workouts in 110 degrees...I took my kettlebells, my sleds, my Farmer Bars and my training javelin (and my 16 pound shot) outside and had a great workout of basically sweating out everything I have while pulling, sprinting, throwing, and kbelling. I have an outdoor shower and I "ice showered" about every five to ten minutes.
I finished with two huge steaks grilling on my George Foreman Grill. I decided...while eating steak in a wet pair of shorts...that this is a great way to deal with this summer's heat.

Pictures please.
Kidding aside I appreciate your posts, you're (and your website) an incredible source or knowledge and non bullshit about real fitness. It's easy to get caught in a rut and think you're doing well with the workouts. Until you try something like the things you recommend, you see where you're really at

Hi Danny John,
I've been reading up at T-Nation and the Anabolic Diet thread caught my interest. I'm only on page 25 of the enormous thread, but you were mentioned a couple of times. Do you have any suggestions for someone starting on this? I'd appreciate any advice you'd be able to give.
Thanks very much.

Well, Lyle McDonald is the expert here. He has a forum and there are a bunch of sites dedicated to "CKD"
Cyclical Ketogenic Dieting.
It is really simple:
Five days of zero carbing. Others argue "low carb,' but that never worked for me.
Then, train like crazy and then have a carb feast. Wait...

This is how I used CKD to prep for an O lifting meet. It is pretty honest, too...not a ton of hyperbole...

Awesome! Thank you so much! If I'm understanding correctly, your link is for the Lyle McDonald version, whereas the Anabolic Diet was by Dr. DiPasquale. There seem to be some minute differences. One thing I haven't been able to find is caloric intake guidelines. I plan to train hard (really really hard) but at this point I'm not a power-lifter. I guess to some degree it's trial and error. My goal is to lose bodyfat while maintaining muscle as much as possible.

lyle also has some forums www.bodyrecomposition.com
I've used psmf VERY effectively in the past. Can't do it while nursing

The differences are mostly the math. I found that six zero carb and one 36 hour carb up worked for me (yes, I know that makes more than seven days...day six is a half zero half carb up)
The Anabolic Diet is covered well by Chris Shuggart in t-nation. Search for "Eat like a man," Parts I and II. Better than the book, imho...

When you say "zero carb," you mean true zero carb and not "meat, leaves and berries" (up to 30 carbs/day)? And what about ketosis during the 6 zero-carb days? Disc Hoss on the Anabolic Diet thread on T-Nation said he was keto-adapted. I was thinking this only happened when you were zero carb for an extended period of time. Sorry for all of the questions... I was browsing T-Nation when I came across this type of plan and it seems like something I could really do well on. Your responses are appreciated.

Good point...I don't think of "salad greens" as carbs. I don't...others might. So, I am a leaf eating carnivore during the zero carb time.
I don't think much, if anything, about ketosis...I get the breath, though...yeesh.
My approach...the link I gave...was a 'real world" user friendly edition...

Disc Hoss, by the way, seems like a pretty good source...he comments on a lot of my articles with some good points and additions...
