Women, Carbs and Weight - A PollThis question is for the women of this forum, only! Thanks.
If you'd like to add more detail about where you get your carbs from, or the level of fat and/or protein you eat, then please do elaborate!

I feel best eating around 60 - 80 g carb, but some days will go up to 100, to fully saturate my liver and muscles and to ensure my pancreas still knows what it's doing. I find at this level, my energy and mood is highest. My weight is higher than it is on VLC, but my bodyfat percentage isn't (glycogen). I'm still playing around with protein and fat amounts, but so far, I seem to be doing best with about 130 g protein in a day and about 120 g fat.

Ideally, around or under 10g for me, high fat too. As long as I keep my fat high, my energy is great.

I recently finally understood why I was feeling unwell on zero-carb. Too many fats!!! Nothing to do with women vs men and that some cannot keto-adapt. I just don't buy that.
I was keto-adapted all along but was just eating too many fats, hence excess ketones. And furthermore, I remained in a state where excess ketones were circulating in my body and giving me symptoms similar to those in ketosis (when not adapted) and milder but similar to those experienced during ketoacidosis (diabetic).
My ketones have substantially gone down now and I'm feeling better. But, I tried eating 60% fat, then 15% fat and still, the fat bothers me. The proof is in my typical symptoms and ketones still showing (but much less; small-lightpinkish). Hunger is barely present and that goes to show you that I still have excess in my body or enough. I don't even crave straight protein. Nada!
I'm also convinced that my weight increased because of too much fat in the diet, way beyond what I needed.
I think until all the excess is excreted out of my body and perhaps, until my weight normalizes, my hunger will be absent. Let's just see...
Girls (and guys), don't you think the reason you may have not done well on VLC/ZC is either because:
1) you were still eating too many carbs
2) including some processed, artificial stuff
3) had cheat days OR
4) ATE FATS IN EXCESS OF WHAT WAS NEEDED.
At least for me, this is very clear.

Nope. I tried lowering fat, to no avail.
And this thread is not about finding one answer for everyone but about finding out what has worked for each of us, individually.

I say I am on zero carbs, but I probably have a few. I do put cream in my coffee and sometimes use dijon mustard, but I only eat meat and water, so definately under 5 grams a day. I feel great, but I felt the same when I was at 10 or 20 carbs a day too. The only time I struggled was during my induction period and that was hell. I know I have a very high pretein level (300 to 400 grams a day) and my fat level is probably pretty high too, all my meat comes wrapped in pork fat. Whatever, it works for me.

Hi
40-60gm carb a day; with added high carb meals or half days here and there.
protein around 130ish gm
fat over 220 gm
I feel good with this.
I do not feel better with lower carbs. Only worse.
I do not lose any more weight with lower carbs either.

Thank you to those who have answered! Keep it coming! So far, the women are all over the board and the men are almost universally doing well on ZC.

Just out of curiosity, for those of us not allowed to vote, and therefore SEE the results, what are they at this point?

2 for less than 5g, 2 for between 10 and 20 g, 1 for between 40 and 60g and 1 for between 60 and 100g.

Actually, I'll put in another voting button on this thread and the men's one for the opposite sex to vote on so they can see the results.

I feel best with carbs around 40-80 grams, Protein 60 - 80 grams, fat very high, haven't ever had a problem with too much fat. They only reason I limit it is to lose weight.

*cough* There already is a view results option. You don't have to vote to see the results.

Yes, but this way you don't have to click it every time. It will always show the results.

Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! I looked for that link. I swear! I did.
I'm going to have to add partial blindness and/or brain damage to my ZC disadvantages.

So you can change the poll after it has started? Cool.
Maybe a better choice would be to just combine the two polls, keeping the men and women as separate questions of course. The only thing you would lose is the percentages. But you would lose that anyway if you added a "opposite sex" option. Besides, at our numbers percentage are rather meaningless.
I really like this kind of data. Problem is it is often hard to piece it all together. Perhaps a dedicated thread in the Journals would add more insight? I suggest an open journal that allows for the posting of everyone's macros as there currently are and why as well as posts of change in macros and why. IDEALLY that would mean 1 post for everybody plus about 1 to 2 posts per year per person. Except for the occasional nut job who just can't hold an even line.

hello -
only just saw this! Great poll.
I voted between 20-40g but in reality it changes - can sometimes be all the way up to 60g.
Felt like crap on zero carb - well that's a bit strong - I felt ok as long as I ate lots of cream and cheese. I gained weight - and no, it wasn't the cream and the cheese because I've lost eating those items too, but with higher carbage - and I've gained without those items on zero carbs.
My macros right now are sort of 75/20/10 f/p/c but sometimes I go higher with the fat.
Lower fat does my head in. If I ever go lower than 70% I fell awful - turn into a right bitch and get cold. High protein sucks as well for me. I feel downright ill on high protein. I start off great then go rapidly downhill and start eating every few hours.
Fave foods are cheese and nuts and cream. If I eat all those combined I totally get into an energetic state of ketosis or whatever and don't want to eat all the time.
Also I can play intense tennis with lots of sprinting on high fat with SOME carbs. Recovery is fastest when fat is high, protein is moderate and carbs are NOT zero - just low.
