The Cholesterol MythOkay, everyone, who believes in the Cholesterol Myth?
I hope it's good because my Diet Experiment includes 6 raw yolks a day. I hope to test my cholesterol at the end of the month. Should be interesting.

Your HDL will probably go up and LDL will probably go down. Your lip rings look cool Ava.

The results of your tests will be meaningless since bulk of your diet is vegetation.

Thanx Trem
What do you mean Woof? My diet is broken up pretty evenly between Fat and Carbohydrates with a pie slice of protein.

Snack: 1 Banana, 1/4 Cup Blueberries, 1/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds.
Lunch: 1 Can Sardines, Organic Ketchup, Lemon Juice. 2 Egg Yolks.
Snack: 1 Cup Stewed Tomatoes.
Snack: 1 Cup Goat Milk.
Dinner: 1 Red Potato, 1 Bok Choy Leaf, 2 Egg Yolks. Bok Choy tea. |
If my cholesterol goes up, that's meaningless? It's certainly interesting. If it's interesting, then is it meaningless? What do you mean? WHAT DO YOU MEAN!!!
I'm not sure it matters anyway because my weight-loss stalled yesterday on the menu- so I changed up- had some Tamago Kake Gohan instead of sardines and no yolks for dinner and we started losing again.

Why normally I don't complain when the bias is in my favor....
Myth? Perhaps hypothesis would be a better word.
Good to see you are in sync with all of those world class political pollsters out there.

My OH has been lowcarbing for just over 2 months. A result of his bloods today show that his total cholesterol has increased by 50%, his HDL has risen by 1/5, his LDL has doubled but his trigs have fallen by 52%. In my eyes this is pretty as low trigs mean that his LDL will be large fluffy particles and therefore less harmful. All other tests fall within accepted normal levels. The Dr couldn't say whether the LDL was calculated or measured.
She was suggesting he begin statins, I said 'over my dead body'. She said 'obviously, you know more about this than I do' to which I replied ' it would seem so'. I hope I was right in that assumption and haven't shot my bolt too soon. Am I right in thinking that with low trigs that LDL will be the big fluffy ones? Opinions please.

Of course all of this hinges on whether or not you believe that cholesterol values have any meaning.

Which leaves us where? Hoping and praying that which ever we choose to believe is true?

The Cholesterol Myth is a pretty broad topic. If you mean that total cholesterol won't go up if you eat saturated fat and cholesterol containing foods, then I disagree, as mine does vary directly with my diet.
If you mean that high cholesterol levels don't cause heart disease, then I agree, or at least I hope this is true for my sake.
