Stevia

Good or bad, thoughts?
Avalon

I've tried Stevia and find it too sweet or, there's just something about it I don't like.

If you haven't checked out Xylitol it might be worth a look.

It has some pretty good feedback as a sweet thingy.

Happy Holidays Plasma!

Bad.....anything sweet tasting can trigger an insulin response.  We really don't want to unnecessarily trigger an insulin release.
Avalon

Even breathing can be BAD!

According to Wai, eating fat with a sweet stops the insulin spike- As in orange juice and olive oil. Of course I've never tested it... hmmm sounds like something to do...

There's quite a bit of OK (and even some great) press about stevia and not all that much bad to say about it, from what I've read. If you recognize that insulin is produced with or without a sweet taste (all sorts of hormones are released every time you eat, including insulin) and look at the data behind stevia, most say that it improves insulin sensitivity and is beneficial, even for diabetics.  If you're overeating calories on a regular basis and relying on a careful balance between insulin and glucagon in order not to gain weight, then yes, you might want to stay away from anything of the sort. But if you're eating a normal amount of food for your size and want to add something sweet that is non-caloric, then I'd choose it over any other non-caloric sweetener, if that's your bag. I've never had a bad reaction to it, either (the stevia powder - not the actual stevia leaf, which probably contains more aromatics and would likely be more reactive).

Do stevia for 2 weeks and monitor your food intake.
Drop stevia for 2 weeks and do the same. If you eat less without stevia it means you are better off without it.
No studies will give you an answer how YOU react to shit like that.
