Salt? Fat? Meat? Fruit? Vegetables? DNA?http://www.becomehealthynow.com/article/traditional/19/
I don't think they ever new:
am I eating too much protein?
I need cod liver oil because...(other than if/when in natural food)
Salt yes or salt no?
have I had my carbs today?
I need magnesium so that I can go to the bathroom!
or have I been to the bathroom today/this week/this month?
am I eating 80% fat diet?
have I done sport today?
and so it goes on...

And the point is?

I believe the point is that perhaps we should follow the example of our ancestors and eat what we have around us and not worry so much about percentages.

I don't think it's a very good idea. Many our ascentors went through starvation and had to eat anything to survive.
So I will rather stick to the foods which science proved to be good for human beings.

What about learning from what our ancestors have done, and WORRY about percentage just like they did?

woof woof: Science can not prove; life is to complex and science is a big market! What about all the contradictions in science and the money behind all of it? Why do you change things and come up with a new idea(journal)?
Max Thunder has a good answer; they must of worryed, because they new what was best (with out science!).
I just posted this because of thoughts about salt, fat, protein, magnesium... that have been mentioned (journals). I like to this "Caveman Cuisine" because; "we live in today's world but our DNA has not changed and our body and mind has not been able to ajust".

Science I believe in says I only need animal protein, animal fat and water to thrive. Nothing else.
And I know it from experience since when I'm really busy I live on rare meats and butter and water and I feel great.
And I agree, most of nutrition science is just pure junk.
The fact that I do eat/drink other stuff or contemplate minor stuff (food choices, meal timing, ratios, raw, cooked etc) is just me fucking around.
It's kind of hobby.

- at least we get to laugh @ their stupid 'theories'. back when i was young sum hot gurl + nutritionist major told me i had simply lost "water weight". when i asked her to feel my arm she touched the muscle and said "Its bone".
well, maybe i shouldnt have lifted that much iron...
- a 'hobby' im desperate to give up. it works when ur young but @ my age u really have other 'issues' u need to deal with

Personal experience, lots of reading, trials and errors. After a while it becomes pretty obviouse if you dig deep enough. There are still some minor points not that clear but they don't mean that much (kind of 80/20 rule).
I've spent months exchanging email with Greg Ellis and I've learnt a lot from him. Great guy.

I have pretty much given up on reading nutritional advice from anyone. I base everything on how I feel and how my body reacts to certain foods.

Kind of "instincitive eating". I don't buy it. Acquired taste can ruin any instinct. You can train yourself to eat anything and you were trained to eat specific foods when you were a child
Good read :

But everybody should follow his own path.

Appreciate you asking hr, but it's all Naysayer a la Vegan stuff.

I don't do the instinctive eating thing. If I did, I would be eating a lot of fruit because that is what I am drawn to. I decided to try LC for a while and I did ok, but then switched to VLC and I have felt better and lost more weight. I hate the taste of eggs, but force myself to eat them often because since eating them everyday I have had good results.

I agree. Instinctive eating is not something you can properly measure in an environment like ours, where we have access to whatever we want, whenever we want. In a more traditional setting, you might be able to trust your instincts a bit more, since availability would be drastically reduced.

Hey Avalon, I am new here, so I am probably asking a question you have already answered, but what exactly is your stance regarding this diet?

actually, the old one had my ONCE-idol the mighty Franco Columbu on it.
after my weightlifting accident i decided he'd done enough "inspiring" and chose the "ravens flying overhead" motif.
