Raw Vitamin C

I did a quick google check to see if there was any vitamin C in meat, and didn't find any. And have read that there might be in raw meat. Any ideas on this? Have there been any tests on raw meats of various types for vitamin C?

And would it be a bad thing to say drink a glass of lemon water a day just in case and maybe to balance ph/acidity???

Very curious.

I've read from Stefansson that there are small amounts of vitamin c in raw meat and lost when cooked. I wish we could test this somehow.

And I know The Bear doesn't go for the 'ph' thing... but with everyone saying so many things it might not hurt to hedge bets by drinking half a lemon in water once a day or so which might cover both the ph and the vitamin C question.

I hope I'm not kooky for asking this. I'm pretty kooky naturally Roll Eyes

Look what I found...a chart towards the bottom showing the vitamin c content of of a few raw meats.

Just as an aside I do take a small amount of lemon juice with sea salt in water, and stevia. As an electrolyte drink.

Jaybird,

Where do you buy stevia? I've been looking around for it myself. I'm just curious if you get it in: 1) a specialized health food store or: 2) on line.

Too bad having liver often is said to be not such a good thing. So maybe there is no Vitamin C in a Beef steak? Maybe it's hidden in the FAT Happy I've come to like raw Calf's liver with a little soy and sprinkles of Italian seasoning.

Adding sea salt makes the drink electrolytic? I've read about extensive benefits of lemon water, but adding sea salt sounds interesting. Cool.

K, I've just tried a few kinds at the health food store. I like the SteviaClear...liquid kind. The Sweetleaf Stevia powder is good too. I've tried the green powder also from a co-op and it will only work for tea as it does taste very green. The SteviaClear liquid also has flavors, you can make a decent soda substitute by adding some to club soda/seltzer water.

Avalon, yes the sea salt makes it into an electrolyte drink. I go on a yahoo group called candidasupport and there is a recipe there - juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/4 tsp ocean sea salt, 6 oz water, stevia to taste. I really like how it tastes, and its very refreshing. I usually will make a quart or so for the day.
