No Dairy 7 day ChallengeIs anyone game? I've been reading of other's successes on quitting dairy, but I'm finding it very hard to do. Coffee drinking is making even harder for me I think. I've been trying to wean off slowly the coffee and cream, but it seems if I have some in the morning I just crave more and have more later. And since I've continued cream in the coffee, slowly other dairy has crept back in (cheese).
I want to try the "7 days" that someone pointed out....go 7 days without and see how we feel.
We can start tomorrow (I'm drinking coffee with cream right now).

Okay, I'm in for 7 days! As of tomorrow, of course...I'm eating shrimp with butter right now!

Okay good OH, shrimp with butter! SOunds good. I'm not even going to have butter starting tomorrow...but ghee is acceptable for dairy free as all milk protien has been removed. It's pricey though, I have some but will only use a little and stick mostly with coconut oil, tallow, lard for my fat source.
PaleoDeano....is that you raising your hand up slowly in the back? Care to join us?

April,
Thanks for the offer... but, aside from half & half in my coffee (now down to only 12oz of coffee first thing in the morning), I AM dairy free! And, that includes butter and ghee!
Now... I will be GLAD to start a ONE MONTH challenge for the month of July for being totally dairy free (including butter and ghee). If anyone is game for that, let me know. But, right now, I MUST cut down slowly on the coffee, or it won't work. This cutting down is working REALLY well!

Okay, well that's good the cutting down has worked for you. It hasn't for me unfortunately. I've become a complete coffee fiend in the past 2 weeks. I better pick up some advil tonite to get ready for my caffiene withdrawal headache I am sure to have tomorrow. The thing in July sounds cool. Why would you also not have ghee? Isn't it just fat with no casien in it?

Because ghee comes from milking cows.
if one is to be
truly dairy free
then out goes the ghee
Actually, there are some proteins in it... and, who says the fat is good? It's still dairy.

I'm doing okay so far:
2 T. coconut oil
5 oz. coffee
chocolate iced coffee (no dairy, see recipe under "anything")
chicken
mayonnaise
I loaded up on the coffee this morning, as you can see. I hope that wasn't part of the deal?

No, it wasn't part of the deal. I'm pretty much trying to get rid of the coffee because I haven't found a way that I like it without a good amount of cream. I'm going to check out your recipe!
So I'm doing good. I'm actually not even feeling too horrible for having no caffiene yet today. I had raw steak and a fried egg for breakfast, and a smoked turkey leg for lunch. Going to check out your iced coffee recipe....

Now let's see how well you all do without coffee. :p

I got more and more as the day wore on without coffee. My poor 3 yr old. Well, we had a birthday party to go to and I couldn't go like that, so I got coffee...er um er with cream. I really wanted to try your dairy free iced chocolate coffee but I didn't have time to make it before I left.
Here I started the challenge and day one is out the window. Well, I didn't eat any cheese or have any other dairy. Just a few splashes of cream. Let's keep the challenge up though, my first day will just be starting tomorrow. I'm going to make your recipe tomorrow so I can have some coffee beverage without cream.

Well, then...
Welcome to the 6 DAY Dairy-Free Challenge!

Seriously though, I was wondering how you were going to be able to kick caffeine and dairy at the same time...that's rough. I know you can do it, it'll just take some time. I like my coffee black for the most part so I had an upper edge. Without caffeine today, I don't want to think what would have happened!
|
Jaybird
|
Yeah...the caffiene and dairy at once, too hard you are right! I will do it though, but one at at time is a much better plan

Hey April, are you back on board today?
|
Jaybird
|
Errr. Um. Not exactly. Well, let me just tell you though I've been having this horrible back pain for 2 weeks now and over the past two days it has felt like a knife is stuck in my lower back. And my whole body has begun to ache. So I felt sorry for myself and had coffee with cream again. I think maybe I am slightly addicted? Hehe. Well, tomorrow I won't make the same mistake I swear! I have some chocolate coffee made already for when I wake up. It's just fine without cream too. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I will have the coffee to be nice But no cream!!!

It's hard, but don't feel bad about a little cream. That's pretty close to dairy-free. I felt pretty crappy all day today, and I have a feeling it was dairy withdrawal.

Just cheering you guys on. Way too addicted and not in the right headspace to give up dairy right now.

Well, I finally eliminated dairy. It's been 6 days of total no dairy (not even milk derivatives from non dairy creamer). No epiphany, no feeling like a million bucks. I feel just as horrible as i have all damn month. Oh well, I will still be off dairy for a while at least. Doing the candida cleansem and i'm really hoping I can add a bit of raw dairy back, I'd really just like the cream.
