Milk allergy

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I apologize if it's in the wrong place.

I'm hoping to slowly transition my kids into a low carb lifestyle, with the goal that they be zero carb by adulthood. I have long suspected that they are alllergic to milk. I saw a post somewhere where someone said that he was only allergic to the milk sugar, not the protein, although I have always read that milk protein allergy is also common.

Can people who are allergic to milk usually tolerate the mlk fats, such as butter, heavy cream, sour cream, or cream cheese? Also, can people allergic to milk eat cheese?

If it is a true milk allergy (immune system), all dairy products must be avoided strictly. If it is an intolerance to lactose (milk sugar), only milk and yogurt should be avoided (although very sensitive may not tolerate cream or carby cheeses like cottage cheese). If it is a dairy intolerance, butter and cream may be tolerated but not always.

I can't tolerate dairy, as much as i've tried, I always feel bad on it. A low carb lifestyle is difficult without it, unless you're trying to loose weight.

My son and I have milk issues, can't deal with the butter. It's really sad. I actually would eat it anyway if I wasn't nursing him.. it gives me asthma and a lot of coughing but the baby has really severe coughing and no sleeping if he eats it.

Some people can't eat pasteurized dairy but are fine with raw dairy. see http://www.realmilk.com/

I love raw dairy. When I was consuming a ton of it but nothing pasturised my asthma cleared up.
