I need to keep my carbs down around 5 to get the massive weight loss results I desire.

Do you calculate your food in fitday or any other program that would let you know how many grams of protein and fat you take in?
|
Dustyboy
|
yes I do.

And?

O.k give me a minute my computer is slow. But while you wait riddle me this. I eat eggs with cheese and butter in the morning and by lunch I am starving. The rest of my food consist of two ribeyes. I do not get hungry after the ribeyeys and experience no hunger pains again until after I have the eggs again. could eggs be giving trouble. I have never heard a bad word about eggs on this forum.

Great to know - thanks, Dusty!
About the eggs, it's hard to tell what's going on there unless we knew what your BG was doing before and after all your meals.
But my guess, (and this is not an opinion that is shared by all) is that the egg and cheese meal is providing less protein than your ribeyes, so you have less glucose (from gluconeogenesis) at your disposal. So as your BG drops after your egg meal, your body gets hungry more quickly. Plus, the egg meal is probably much smaller and has less calories and is just plain less filling.

Have you ever experimented with a meat only diet?

Yes, I did meat and water only (with no eggs/cheese, etc.) for about 30 days, IIRC. I have it written down somewhere. I noticed I was more sluggish than I am with eggs and dairy, but it's pretty clear to me that my body handles a ZC diet much less efficiently than others'.

I may take a run at it just to see what happens because the hunger pains are hitting me within 90 minutes. Thats not right. And when I say that I am not hungry after the ribeyes, I mean no hunger even in the morning. Maybe I can knock out hunger once and for all and prove to myself whether it is physically possible for me to get into ketosis.

if you're not even hungry, why not ditch the eggs until you're ready fro the meat?

true, true.

IIRC is 'if I recall correctly'.

60-100 grams a day for me - enough to stay out of ketosis. After trying zero-carb for almost a year, I was just one of those that couldn't seem to keto-adapt. I would always have a weak leg all of the time and lost all of the explosiveness in both of my legs for intense exercise. Since adding whole milk, yogurt, and some various fruits/vegetables/nuts, I've noticed a lot better energy and better body composition.

Define healthy weight

A weight that allows for a bodyfat percentage that is considered in the 'healthy' range for men, which I believe is between 8 and 19%.

I need carbs (mainly eggs, dairy, booze, coffee, since I don't eat veggies) to keep it around 10%-12% so kind of healthy range.
Without carbs I'm well below 10%. And I'm not that young anymore.

0-5, elaboration:
I am as yet not at a healthy weight. 200# at 5'9".
I have the same energy at any carb level. I always have. I can eat HUGE amounts of carbs without much effect.
Since on ZC my ability to go without food for extended periods has returned to the point I was at in college (25 years ago)
ZC seems to be ever so slowly helping me loss weight without any effort on my part.
ZC is MUCH easier to maintain than "Atkins". "Atkins" for me leads to carb creep and eventual weight (re)gain.
In truth I feel pretty much the same now at 200# on steak as I did at 300# on pizza. Though I'm sure I'm better off on the inside.
