Meatarian Propaganda. What?

Good evening! Human evolution and meat eating! I've just come from a site that implied that it was 'cooking' that was our significant catalystic something something- that, made us who we are today. It is an awfully big thing, fire and cooking. Regardless of meat or veggies. But of course I only soak up so much, then move on for more answers. Then I landed on a site of, well... here:

A Hypothesis to Explain the Role of Meat-Eating in Human Evolution
by
Katharine Milton

It's long, but I enjoyed it. I may even believe some of it Cool a lot of it? Oh, I don't know. What isn't meantioned is 'an all meat diet'. Meat only. But I have to tell you, what still gets me when I read stuff like this, is why can't we just eat the grass, instead of the cow? Oh our stomachs? I thought that's what cooking is for. Has anyone tried cooking grass? And i don't mean that funny grass! How does a cow get such big bones eating grass? Is it just quantity? Grazing all day every day? Is it the bird shit, from birds perching on top of a resting cow? Yoda said it best- quote again "How do you get so big, eating food of this kind".

What I only quickly looked at, were the charts on this page. Charts comparing Beef nutrional content with many other plant based items. This I would like to check out and see if any bit is true.

So, just for your reading amusement, I present you this bobble of banter.
I bow to your meat eating ways, for now,

I've read a few other articles that Milton wrote (her area is gut morphology, for the most part), and I always found her to be squarely in the pro-vegetation camp. The writer who is taking her on in this piece is from a vegan website, so Milton was getting slammed even though she clearly stated that the large apes, for the most part, were vegetation eaters. Roll Eyes

The writer also claims that our brain size and capacity are directly due to glucose in our evolution. I'm not sure about that. It's difficult for me to understand how we got to our size and neuromuscular function levels without protein and fat, but I don't have any cites to back up this claim. It would be an interesting thing to read more about.

Just read the recent Eades article.

I totally disagree with the glucose idea. The brain is primarily fatty acids and water.

Yes. Plus we don't need to ingest any glucose (carbs) to keep our brains functioning.

Suffice to say we wouldn't be here reading this if we didn't eat meat after falling out of the trees. Even picking nits out of one another's fur would have been too high-order for a glucose-based diet. Yup

To be honest, if if all the evidence pointed toward humans evolving on nothing but wheatgrass (even though evidence clearly shows otherwise), I would still eat the way I do. I function better, think better, move better and look better on zero-carb and that is the best evidence, for me, that I'm doing my body good. Yup

...you function better, think better, move better and look better; your photo is super sweet Yup

Thank you, Nicky! I love your photo, too, but it's so small! You need a bigger one so we can see you better. Yup
Avalon
