Presently, my Mother's alive, having recently finished chemo, radiation and the lump of cancer on her rib destroyed- despite the fact that at one of her visits to the Doctor's office there was a plate of chocolates, which my Mother participated in on her way out (take breath here)
While waiting to see the Doctor, I spoke of the fact that cancer feeds on sugar. That tests use sugar to attract cancer- in order to detect cancer. And even after this, she grabs a handful of chocolate and passes one to my Step Father, eats one herself and the rest into her bag.
Why was there sugar in a Cancer Office?!?!
As they left the office ahead of me, I turned and asked the nurse
"Doesn't cancer feed on sugar?"
She shrugged, "Oh it's alright".

Ugh... So sorry Ava!
My mum beat cancer a few years ago, and since then has gone gluten/dairy/soy and egg free. But she's still eating a lot of fruit. I'm slowly convincing her of the carbs-r-bad thing, and this week she tried eating "much less" fruit. I just asked her to try cutting it to zero for a week, just to see how she felt (she has been getting foggy headed, just like I used to from too much sugar). I sent her this link hoping it would help convince her. She doesn't eat much meat though, only chicken and fish, so it makes a fulfilling low-carb diet a struggle.
Her cancer history is one of the reasons I'm so diligent about my eating habits, plus why I'm starting intermittent fasting again.
