White rice is very high glycemic, so I would not recommend that. I have never hard of carbs being required to build muscle. It is generally believed that there must be an excess of calories, but it should not matter where they come from. Other than that, all you need are adequate protein and some weights.

it's difficult to explain, jl. i dont do well eating zero carb. you cant just keep upping the protein, it makes me feel sick and is TOO hard on the kidneys. am i correct in this, or is this just a view society has placed in me?
white rice is definitely my choice, even though the glycemix is high, because i want NO fiber or sugar, so fruits and veggies are out, and since white rice is refined it has no fiber which is exactly what im looking for.
are you seriously telling me that it doesn't matter where the calories come from, if i just up the protein and eat more meat, as long as the calories are there i'll build the muscle? alright, i guess i'l try it out, but what's all this talk about too much protein being hard on the kidneys?
i dont eat dairy, so i get my fat from the meat, eggs, and bone marrow thanks jl

If you are eating mostly meat and eggs, then you are no doubt getting enough protein already. If you feel you must have carbs, I think non-starchy veggies are the least harmful option, although there will be fiber. I would choose fiber over sugar any day. You say you chose white rice because it has no sugar, but all carbs are turned to sugar, and high glycemic ones such as white rice turn to blood sugar very quickly. Some starchy carbs turn to blood sugar faster than table sugar! How long have you been eating zero carb? Maybe you just need to give it a little more time. It does take the body time to adapt. Excess protein is only hard on the kidney if a person has preexisting kidney disease. Healthy kidneys will have no problem handling all the protein you can possibly eat.

White sushi rice is lowest is nasty food chemicals and easily digested, so I recommend it but eat it with lots of fat to blunt insulin.
