i have this problem

well i have a rash on the back of my arm and a little one under my eye, and also rectum itching... now these problems come and go, sometimes there gone and sometimes there bad.... they been going on and off for a few years now..

i cant seem to rid these,, any ideas?

What does your diet consist of? What is your job? What kind of detergent do you use? Etc. It could be from many many different factors. Rectum itching?? Like as in, inside the rectum? Not just the anus? Anal itchiness is an unusual one, but I've never even heard of rectal itchiness. An itchy bum could be hemorrhoids, parasites, like pinworms, or it could be dermatitis, which sounds likely if you have rashes elsewhere. Have you ever been treated for staph with antibiotics? You might want to see a doctor or dermatologist.

below the rectum and around the rectum is itchy, the outside, not inside.

my diet changes a lot. it could be candida and i think have hemoroids, any ideas?

i been to the doc, they just give me hyrdocortine cream to stop the itching, i only bothers me on occassions.

i may try an elimination diet. i do cheat often with like peanut butter, chocolate, brown rice ice cream, etc.

i find it impossible for me not to cheat though!

hemms make you itch.   Make sure they're taken care of.  Certain factors can make them appear (pregnancy, a bad bad cold where you're coughing violently, diet  etc) and then it's maintenance after that.  The area will always be vulnerable and certain things can make a little itch come back.   It just means you need to be aware of what's going on and what aggravates them.  They can make it itchy around the area or inside.

should i eat more fiber?
ReddyMcMeaty

it's the generally accepted rule, but I find the less fibre the better.  My toddler actually developed a hemm.  Very Mad  after my husband made oatmeal for breakfast for him daily for a week or two, he was shitting so incredibly much and developed a hemm.  Poor little thing.  I don't think fibre is a good thing.

I would say no to the fibre. The elimination diet is a good idea. Here's a link to the only one I'd ever use:

what about Bacon? should i avoid this?

i may that , thanks AD

During the elimination diet, yes. All cured meats and pork products are off limits, due to their amine content.

there was some blood in my stool today, last night i did a high dosage of magnesium

so psyllium husk fiber is a good thing?
ReddyMcMeaty

IMO and experience high doses of mag. irritate things at the end.. and I personally don't believe that psyllium husk would help an already irritated colon.

Avalon believes in the virtue of vegetables, I tend to think they can be tasty, but can cause a lot of harm, so be careful with which ones you choose.

Generally hems are caused by either constipation (and therefore too much pushing) or by chronic diarrhea, where the pushing is done for you. Which would you describe more as your problem, Plasma?
Plasma

constipation more so
adwred

I find the best remedy against that is to stay away from fibrous things, stick to a Failsafe diet, stay away from cheese (or all A1 dairy) and eat plenty of fat with every meal.

Coffee can help keep things moving, too.  Happy
adwred

Coffee will not help your dermatitis, though! I'd stay away from coffee until you know what's causing that.

Plasma,

With constipation, I second staying away from the fiber, for sure.  In my educated opinion, and from my own personal experience (I'm the queen of digestive and colon issues, especially related to the recto-sigmoid area) fiber would worsen the situation for you.

I also second Red's suggestion for ensure adequate fat with each meal.  This will help to keep things more regular, and also help, hopefully, keep the stool softer and easier to pass.

I would also drop the bacon too, if I were you.  Stuff is loaded with amines.
Plasma

yeah im going to stop the bacon...

i also need to cut out the choocolate and peanbut butter..

im stubborn and i have serious food addictions i need to give up

Good to at least do a trial.

Been there.  Still there, but successfully avoiding many things for a long time now.

You would be wise to stop the peanut butter, especially with your low thyroid issues.  Peanuts contain goitrogens, naturally-occurring substances in certain foods that can interfere with the functioning of the thyroid gland.

If that isn't enough motivation to leave it behind, I don't know what is.  Every time you ingest that PB, you're just (of course unintentionally) adding to your already existing suppressed thyroid activity (to some degree or another).
ReddyMcMeaty

Didn't we have a peanut butter girl on here before?   She said zero carb made her gain weight or something, but sneaked in with the zero carb were jars of peanutbutter?   Get rid of it!!   Your body will be happier.

Peanut butter is brown death!

The polyunsaturated fats in the PB also inhibit the production of thyroid hormone.

PB also contains high levels of aflatoxins, the organic kinds are worst.

Being a legume peanuts contain lectins that can cause things like colon cancer.

I also think they are estrogenic.

I would not be surprised if they are the cause of AIDS.

Also, peanuts are high in both salicylates and amines.

ETA: maybe we should change the name of this board to the Active No-Peanut Forums.

The poly fats are also going to produce an immunosuppressive effect.

Am I the only one still chuckling at this?

I think someone was supposed to say 'that's what she said.'  Laugh
