How is everybody doing on zer-carb?How are you carnivorous-people doing on zero carb when it comes to exercise performance and recovery?
Given that many of you are probably keto-adapted by now, I was wondering if you can perform sprints or other anaerobic exercises at the same level than before starting zero-carb.
I know of people doing aerobic exercises like bike-riding, doing perfectly on a keto-diet, but I donīt know of someone performing 100 meters dash, for example.
Thanks!

I am doing just fine.
I am in better shape now than ever in my life. Performance and recovery has been great. I sprint 2-3 times a week ( HIIT of about 150 yards full sprint and 150 yards brisk walk for two miles total distance) without trouble.
I have no regrets about being carnivorous, only contentment.

Yeah, after keto-adapting, I have the same amount of explosive energy as my carb-burning years. I don't sprint or anything seriously, though, so if performance is affected significantly in serious athletes I probably wouldn't know

How long did it take for you to keto-adapt?

When I was keto-adapted I could suddenly miraculously run for absolutely miles without fatigue. For somebody who had never really done any long distance running before I was so impressed with myself and the diet.

The Phinney study was actually two studies. One of them dealt with a group of subjects that were sedentary. First they tested their endurance on a treadmill. Then the subjects were put on a ketogenic diet for 6 weeks. They did no exercise during this 6 week adaptation period. Then they tested their endurnace again. Their endurance was greatly improved on the ketogenic diet, even though they did no exercise.

I have experienced the EXACT same thing! Endurance is seemingly limitless once keto-adapted.
It's funny, how this WOE basically creates a surprisingly high degree of endurance without ever having to train for or maintain it. It's particularly good since it allows more focus to be pooled into resistance training, while effortlessly maintaining a certain degree of endurance that I'd have to work for on a carb-based diet.

Yes, I have experienced this also. It should not be surprising, really. It really does make perfect sense. Once keto-adapted, even a very lean person has enough body fat to fuel a marathon.
