how do you eat your raw eggs?

Back when I was eating raw eggs on a regular basis, I would break the egg into a bowl and scoop out the yoke with a spoon and pop it in my mouth. I would break the yoke with my teeth and swallow it down. I would usually eat 5 to 10 of these a day on average. I would also put yokes only in my smoothie. I'm not eating eggs right now but am going to start up this spring. Anybody else eat there raw eggs differently?

I have yolks mixed with butter in my morning coffee.

yokes in your coffee? now that's different. I'll have to try that.

Yep, I do the same thing.

Raw yolks are the perfect match for steak tartar.

They're really nice broken over a hot steak or burger, too. Like an instant effortless sauce.
ReddyMcMeaty

yeah I eat egg coffees

That's the way I get 'em down.  Crack a couple over my raw steak.

Either break them in glass, whisp a little with a fork and drink or make a crack to the shell and suck a little, cover the crack with a finger, shake and drink. I don't really like plain yolks.

Frozen eggs are also worth trying.

frozen raw eggs? sounds interesting

Yes, raw. I think Peter Freuchen mentioned them as one of the most delicious (he may not have used this word or equal of it in Danish..) foods among Inuits of Greenland. The eggs he ate weren't of course from chickens and certainly not from grain-fed birds either. But frozen regular chicken eggs are still nice. Somewhat messy to eat tough. To get authentic athmosphere, warm them with your hands till you get the shell off of them.

Peter Freuchen also mentioned dried eggs in walrus intestine were very good ("..no better food than them", not exact quote...). How can you dry eggs? Maybe it was error in translation (I suppose from Danish to Finnish). Anyone know if he really has talked about dried eggs?

Hmm, maybe they could be freeze dried in the arctic, even easily?

So you freeze them in the shells, then peel them off? Could you pre-break them and then freeze?

Also - to anyone - I've been trying to get my body used to eating raw eggs, but should be only eating the yolks? I read that eating the whites too will cause biotin deficiency because of the avidin or albumen or something in it?

If you eat the whole egg, you're fine. Just don't eat the egg white alone. The egg yolk compensates for the antinutrients in the white.

thanks kristi. Just wondering, do you eat whole eggs raw? I know you eat completely raw right? I'm trying to get used to raw eggs but for some reason it gives me the runs everytime I eat them...not when i eat raw beef though. How can i prevent this?
Kristi31

I actually eat the yolk raw and don't eat the egg white at all because it can trigger a histamine (allergic) response. At this time, I'm pretty much histamine overloaded due to other factors so for now, no egg whites. Besides, I don't like the white part.

Eggs gave me the run at first (and cramps) but that went away with time.

I eat all of my food raw, no exceptions.

So you've been eating raw duck and pork belly? Pork belly, I could probably handle, but I imagine it would be sort of tough when raw. Confused And raw duck? No, I don't think I could do it. The breast meat, sure, but the skin? Ugh.

Switched back to beef. Just couldn't handle eating duck every single day and I have to admit the taste wasn't so good. Pork belly wasn't that good either. Cooked would have been probably tastier but I prefer raw for health reasons.

I opted for kosher beef (usually shortribs because they are the least salted) and beef fat/bone marrow.

1. Agree with Carni! Yolk topping on Steak Tartar!!! (maybe on my next binge!) The Best!

2. Yolk in a Shot Glass with a splash of Soy Sauce. A favorite of mine.

2. Whole Raw Egg in a Brandy Glass. Sipped, not stirred.

2. Hollandaise Sauce! OMG! Simply Yolk, Lemon Juice, Salt, Butter heated to thicken! Yum! Over anything Shock

2. There is no number 5  Happy

2. And I'm sorry but Raw Yolk with a little lime juice and salt is wonderful over a small potato or Jasmine rice what?  Shock I mentioned meat first  Yup

Best wishes,

Yep, hollandaise sauce = THE BEST! I make a version of it thats more like an egg puding for a meal sometimes. Its 4 eggs + 2 tbsp lemon juice + 2 tbsp butter, heated in the microwave and stirred until its a pudding like consistency. Comes out better if you just use yolks, but still tastes good using whole eggs and its a lot bigger when you do.

I've made that pudding... by accident. So I added more butter to get the sauce back. Next time I'll just eat da pudding.

Yeah it definitely satisfies my urges for a creamy consistency...since I gave up PB and everything  Cool and I try to avoid dairy
