Highest amount of fat in one meal

I am getting better and better with fat. Today i had a meal with about 160g of fat, i got a little bit heartburn. I think this amount is too much for me.

Which amount of fat do you all eat per meal? I think i should stick to about 100g of fat per meal..

I think it is important to keep the fat high, probably around 75-85% despite shortcomings in the beginning. Your body will eventually adapt and you will be glad you endured those few days or weeks of hardship. Lower fat intake, while still gradually increasing it, will likely prolong your adaptation.

Lately, I've experienced some heartburn as a result of upping fat but it's almost gone now. I don't know how much grams of fat I eat daily but enough so that about 80% of my calories come from it. I'm barely hungry and feeling quite good and energetic although there are moments of tiredness.

Best of luck.

Hi Kristi,

the problem is that i have definitely too much energy of this amount of fat, but the feeling is not very pleasant. Perhaps my problem is that i don't do exercise...

Weird thing about upping fat a lot is that some people gain weight from it even when keeping carbs near zero and protein moderate and some others, like Jeff, don't gain an ounce. Whereas some react with high fat with unpleasant trips to the washroom and headache, others stomach it very well. It's just amazing how each individual react differently to diet despite the fact that our genetic make up is 99.9% (or even higher) same.

I'm more convinced that weight and appetite regulation is not simply calorie in & calorie out, but hormonally and homeostatically controlled as well. As long as you are feeling good about what you're eating and it's working for you, I bet it's the way to go. Keep us informed on your high-fat journey in terms of your enery level, weight, body composition change, and of course your sense of well being Happy

The more I learn.......reading Taubes, reading research papers, reading about other's experiences.........the more I am convinced that these differences are mostly explained by individual hormonal differences.  Yup

Jeff, since you're one of the most hormonally gifted person ever, why don't you entertain us with another metabolic experiment Laugh
