Heather's Half-Marathon ChallengeExactly 2 weeks from today, on August 13th, Heather will be running a half-marathon. This is an incredible accomplishment when you consider that 8 months ago she could barely walk on her treadmill. As a show of support, I pledged to run a half-marathon on my treadmill right along with her. Meg also said that she would ride along on her bike. (remember, Meg?) I would like to challenge everybody to do a little something extra that day. I realize that not everybody can run a half-marathon, but I think it would be great if everybody would do something just a little more than they usually do for exercise. Take a long walk....a long bike ride....whatever. Lets' show our support for Heather and let her know that we're all behind her!!!

Awesome idea, Jeff!
Weather permitting, I will ride my bike for as long as I can go, shooting for 14 miles (that's the length of a half, right?) Weather not permitting, I will devise some other sort of challenge that can happen indoors.
We're so proud of you, Heather!

I believe it's 13.1 miles, but who's counting? Hey, I dont want to run any farther than I have to.

You should expect it, woman! We U!
You are an inspiration! You know that!
I pledge to walk that far. Heather, exactly how far is it? I'll go out to the park and walk that far. What time are you doing it? What time zone? I'll walk with you, at the same time... no problem. That will get me back into exercise!
It will be great! It will be the international Heather walk!

It is Sunday, August 13 at 8:00AM MST.
I am thinking I will have to wake myself up really early to eat. I can't run on a full or empty stomach. I need to get it just right. These details will drive me crazy.
I never get up that early either so this will be interesting, although I think the nerves will keep me from being too sleepy. I wonder if maybe I should stay in the city that night because my house is about a one hour drive away, if I stay in the city it will only take 10 minutes to get there.
It is really important to me and I want to get it right, I am the no carb ambassador that day.
Any suggestions for food and time to eat?

Heather, I think spending the night before in the city would be a good idea. As far as eating, I'd say eat what you would normally eat, but maybe add a good amount of coconut oil if you can manage. Myself, I have to eat at least 2 hours before any serious running. Otherwise I get a sideache.

Okay Jeff, I made arrangements to stay at my Dad's house. That part is taken care of!
I will have to wake myself at 5:30 to start eating and drinking. That should give me enough time to get things settled. I think I might have to bring my meat and eggs (pre-cooked) with me so I don't have to cook at someone else's house and at 5:30.
I also talked to my Dad for a while, I'll post that part in my journal, but very inspirational.
