Gaining lean body mass on raw meat?

Hi there,

My first post today. Since last week, I have started incorporating a few raw dinners...

basically a tartare of fresh ground (1/2 to 3/4 lb) mixed with raw egg yolks, organic turmeric, cumin, and garlic, with a ton of tobasco...

I also have a few tablespoons of raw butter (Organic Pastures) and extra-v olive oil

My goal is general health and fat loss... but I was wondering with the ease of digestion and assimilation or protein nutrients, has anyone found themselves toning up a bit faster or putting on some lean mass faster than normal

I remember reading the Primal Diet book by AV years ago, and he claimed having a pretty robust/muscular physique despite doing little exercise, I personally love to workout and hit the weights a few times a week but have been unable to add LBM but have been slowly shedding fat over the last few years

Thanks
Dave

I still just trying to lose weight, so I can't help you with your questions.....

Wow - thanks for the quick responses, after lurking on here for a few weeks, makes me feel like I am part of a community Smile

as for the tartare...yes, it is really really good... I mix it up sometimes... if you go to Trader Joes, you can get this red thai curry sauce... I will add a tablespoon sometimes (3 grams of carb per) to add a little kick

another thing that I add (and I know it's not raw) is a few anchovies that I smash in because I love the briny flavor it adds to the meat, I add about 3-5 little filets to each tartare... I get a small glass jar, that $1.99 that lasts about 3 dinners

I honestly feel great doing it, but it does stress me out (I know silly) to know that I have to eat cooked meat when my family is around as they just freeeeeeeeeak out... to compensate on those days, I just have a lot more raw egg yolks and raw butter and cook the meat rare... I can't give any long terms testimonials but my gut (literally and metaphysically speaking) tells me that the more raw meat I eat... the better I will be feeling and looking...

What I did find right away, is that my libido went waaaaaaaaay up... it was almost strange... I am in my early thirties but feel like I am 16 in that department *lol*

I don't have the moola for steaks everyday, but I get a good quality chuck and have the butcher at WFoods grind it up for me... I have also eaten regular ground chuck and it has been ok too...

to hedge my bets in case of rogue bacteria... I do use a lot of organic turmeric, organic cumin, freshly crushed raw garlic, and a supplement called Oreganol P73, which has very strong anti-bacterial and parisitic properties...

I hope this helps

that sounds so good im going to make it tomorrow. thanks for the recipe, ha.
thats interesting about the spices helping with parasites i never knew that, so thats why spices are good im guessing, they help combat the raw meat and parasites that might come with it.
golooraam, your post has really caught my attention and im thinking you could really help me out so with some problems im having with this WOE so i pmed you, if thats alright, it would be so great if you could respond, thanks-
Dave

golooraam,

what's the worst that can happen, we get some sort of gastro bug?

I had the worst castro from restaurant (cooked) meat once. I was in terrible pain for a week!

But if you prepare and stor ethe food yourself - shouldn't be an issue.

excellent point - I use the spices more for taste and anti-oxidant/anti-inflammatory properties, but am thankful in case of Murphy's law...

I have. I started exercising (1 mile run plus about 20 mins of weight-machine work, nothing crazy) 3 days ago in conjunction with beginning to eat raw every day, and I've been astonished at how quickly I'm toning up. Every morning there is a change in my body composition, and often I can notice changes during the day, merely hours after exercising!

I can't wait to see what happens after 30 days.

You should keep a photo journal.

The longest I have done all meat consistently lasted about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, and for the most part it was raw. I was having a lot of seared steaks still very raw in the middle, and raw egg yolks. That was the bulk of it, with some raw liver here and there. I wasn't exercising at the time but my body very obviously changed shaped, I could see changes in my muscles and whole body shape. I'm excited to get back to it...I had heart palpitations and insomnia start in around 1 1/2 weeks or so into it and I haven't been back to all meat since. But in every other way I felt amazing, so I'm getting ready to do it again. After my all egg challenge I'm going to add meat back in, lots of raw meat.

I have switched to eating more cheaper steaks and short ribs raw... I am finding that with raw butter/organic butter and a whey isolate shake aftewards, I am definitely getting more muscular, however, I am finding that I am messing up a lot with carbs at work...

what is strange is that I am enjoying them less and less

I hope this helps
