Egg Milk and Egg Drink

The recipe is from yahoo group candidasupport.

Egg Milk

3 raw free-range whole eggs

1/2 cup coconut oil, warmed to liquify if solid

ź Put eggs and oil in a blender and blend.

ź Gradually add water until the blender is full.

ź Pour into a large jar or container and stir in additional water to make 4 to 5 cups of milk.

Bee’s Raw Egg Drink

Contains: 19 grams of protein, 65 grams of fat and 4 grams of carbs.

1. 3 raw large whole eggs (or 4 medium), preferably “certified organic” free-range

2. 2 tablespoons coconut oil

3. 2 tablespoons butter (organic or certified organic cultured & unsalted is best)

4. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste

5. 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, or to taste

6. 1 pinch of stevia sweetener, or to taste

7. 2 – 2 ˝ cups of boiled filtered water

Put the first 6 ingredients in a blender and add boiled water last. Close the cover well, and blend.

Some people like this drink hot, while others prefer it cold.

All ingredients can be adjusted to suit individual needs. For example if you are just starting on coconut oil add 1 teaspoon and gradually increase the amount over time (every 4-5 days) to minimize die-off reactions. The number of eggs can be increased or decreased, along with any other ingredients

I have made the egg drink a few times, and I use 5 eggs and use extra butter and coconut oil too. Very good stuff. Good in coffee.

It doesn't separate in coffee? I'd think it would cook the eggs or at least de-emulsify!
ReddyMcMeaty

I don't know if it separates in coffee yet (will tomorrow) but YUM!!! it's great as just a drink, I had some about 30 mins ago.
adwred

I wonder if you can do all-butter, as coconut oil and I don't get along?
ReddyMcMeaty

I did all butter. Mine was 1 egg, not quite a cup of water and some butter, and yeah I admit to a little stevia and cinnamon and nutmeg. Damned good.
ReddyMcMeaty

holy shit, it actually works in hot coffee. I just made some in a glass mug because I wanted to see what it looks like. It looks like milky coffee and tastes like it too.
adwred

Damn! I must try this! Although I've been having dairy lately... Embarassed
Avalon

I don't want to go back to coffee (cheaper without it and health reasons Roll Eyes ). But maybe sometime? I do want to try this drink or a version of it. Like drinking sweet hollandaise sauce, and creamier! OY!
Jaybird

Yeah, I used all Kerry Gold ghee in both egg drinks I had today. Grin Creamy eggy buttery goodness. I'm having some in coffee right now, its very nice.

Avalon its great you don't drink coffee anymore. Using the egg milk and stevia instead of sugar and milk I think is going to make it much easier for me to quit the stuff. I think the addiction I developed to lattes is not just the caffiene but more the 1-2-3 punch of caffiene, sugar, and milk all rolled into one yummy creamy sweet zippy treat.

Broke me. I hope you're happy now Very Mad

The only reason I could stop was I stopped buying it. When it was here at home, I had no will of my own. ooooeeeeeeooooooohhhhhh...
Jaybird

Ova-lon, what have I done??? Shock
Avalon

Exactly Yup
ReddyMcMeaty

I don't have any plans to give up coffee soon. I felt so smug using my egg drink in it today, especially when DH bitched about there being no cream for his coffee. He told me he would never try the egg drink Laugh

This post is just to add that it's delicious as a cold creamy chocolate milk if you add cocoa and stevia and ice.
adwred

Ok, I just tried stirring hot coffee into a beaten egg (in the spirit of this recipe and also in the spirit of my iced coffee recipe) and it worked well. I had to add some cold water to the egg first, and then the coffee, to keep it from splitting (found that out the hard way). Is nice and warm and comforting, though! And more substantial than a plain coffee. Yum. I'm avoiding butter today (doing a clean egg day... er... with coffee), but I imagine that would just make it even better. Yup

Oh and you could always try sneaking the egg drink in DH's coffee to see if he notices that it's not cream. That would be a good way to get dairy out of the house completely, if you could show him that it's delicious and a good source of protein that he wouldn't otherwise be getting. Dunno
ReddyMcMeaty

oh we'll never get dairy out of the house!! Dh needs his cheese and salami, and he's enjoying some 10 percent fat plain yogurt too since he's lowcarbing. I'm fine around the cheese, it's only my desperate and pathetic need for creamy coffee that kept dairy around and now I have found a great solution so it's no biggy. That being said I will always come back to binge on heavy cream. It's just to fucking good to live without forever. DH generally drinks his coffee black so I don't need to keep cream around for him, it's just on occasion that he wants some cream. I've been able to "sneak" eggs into his smoothies before but he knows I'm doing it and pretends he doesn't.

I know - I can't ever give up on dairy completely either! And luckily I don't get asthma from it - I just find it addictive and can't put it down. Hence why I can't give it up! Doh! I don't get too tempted by cheese, either. It's just cream and ice cream that really tempts me.

I'm making the egg milk now. Using 2 eggs and 2 Tbsp butter, put in boiled water and some cold water and am refrigerating it now. I have about 4 cups of total liquid. I know I'm not using as much fat as I should, but I have a small concern about the butter re-solidifying into little bits. But I guess the only way to find out is to try!
ReddyMcMeaty

I use 2 eggs and 1-2 tbs butter and end up with 2 cups liquid usually, I like creaminess. I also put cold gelatine in it once and blended and it was great in iced coffee because of the thickness/creaminess.

Did I mention yet that I did a lime sorbet sort of thing using gelatine and it was very tasty and satisfying texturewise? I did use plenty of coconut oil for that, non flavoured, and extra yolks.

Post the recipe!!

OMG, the egg milk is still a bit warm, but I tasted it and it's like liquid butter! Mmmmm. I'm worried I added too much water, though.
adwred

Just wanted you to know that I've practically given up on cooked eggs since trying this. It's virtually where all my calories come from. Laugh I don't use nearly as much fat in it as you called for - just a touch of butter - but it's delicious and satisfying, nonetheless. Very much like eggnog! Love it!
ReddyMcMeaty

It's going to be my amazing fat loss secret post partum Smile Creamy delicious icy shakes all summer
adwred

OK, I just had a stroke of genius. Egg milk, frozen as creamy ice pops! What a great treat on a hot summer day!!!!!!!! OMG with a little cocoa powder stirred in - don't get me started!

Edit: I just did a batch and they're in the freezer right now - but I actually just did raw yolks, cold water, banana extract and stevia. No boiling water, no butter or CO. Why bother, right? This was it's totally raw and still creamy-good. Banana-yolk popsicles!
adwred

OK, verdict: they rock.
ReddyMcMeaty

DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!! I just let my husband throw out a bottle of banana extract that had been hanging around the house being thrown around and played with by Bjoern for an age. I couldn't think of anything that I would do with it and Andy was sick of hearing the glass jar being thrown around, not to mention B has already broken a glass jar of extract on the porcelain kitchen floor. Those sound delicious and very satisfying when you're looking for a treat. I really really enjoy iced things.

Just wanted to share that there is a thread with 300 replies on the swedish LC forum about this egg milk thing. It started when someone posted a link to this thread and now everyone is drinking them.   Bonkers
ReddyMcMeaty

awesome!   It's so versatile and healthy.

My son regularly drinks egg milk: egg yolk only, butter, and a splash of hot water and a sprinkle of sugar.  It's warm and tastes close to breastmilk, apparently.

I have coffee: 2 eggs with boiling water poured on them and blended.  It comes out like a cappuccino, I add it to espresso strength coffee.

I've always wanted to be famous in Sweden.

To Jaybird for spreading the thingy! Line Cheer
