carnivore smoothie?

Anybody ever think about making a huge raw egg, raw meat, raw liver smoothie? This spring, as I get back to working out on a regular basis again, I thought about having some of these big "carnivorous" smoothies.
I was thinking like 10 to 20 raw egg yokes, a few ounces of raw liver, and any amount of raw meat with plenty of raw tallow added in. All this ground up in a Vitamix and downed in 10 to 15 minutes. I've made these once or twice last summer when I was working out and enjoying the warm weather. What are your thoughts?

I dont' think I'd like the taste of liver in there.. I sometimes make (used to make frequently) raw egg and meat smoothies and eat them as a soup.

Yeah most people don't like the taste of liver or raw liver. I used to think I didn't either. I actually like the taste of raw or rare liver over more medium or more cooked liver. The more you cook it the worse it tastes.
But in this smoothie I only put a few ounces in a big smoothie so I don't really taste it.

I enjoy liver, but only when having a craving for it.  And it's def. better cooked medium.

I can't stand liver that's been cooked even a little bit, unlike regular beef. Raw is okay though.

Btw, that smoothie does sound nasty, LOL

yeah Red I don't eat liver often. It obviously has some carbs so I don't eat it except on occasion. I've been experimenting this winter on no dairy(including butter), very small amounts and rarely liver, and no eggs(in large amounts they have carbs). I eat mainly beef, pork, tallow and lard. I've seen some differences too. Stefanson and his friend did the all  meat thing with no dairy or eggs during there all  meat year so I thought I'd try it.

I also don't include daily in my diet, very rarely eggs or liver and occasionally a little organ meat (and seafood) as it is very nutritious. Other than that, mostly beef, lamb, fish, tallow and bone marrow. All raw.

yeah butter and dairy seem to give me an inflammatory response with my skin. I'm not sure about eggs. Are eggs better than dairy? They don't have the casein or lactose but do have some carbs.

1 egg yolk is about 0.6g carbs. Not much. It depends on if you also eat the white part and how much you eat in a day.

hey where'd you get the 0.6g of carbs per egg? I always thought it was 0.5g per egg which isn't much different but wondering where you got that.

Avoiding eggs because of an allergy or sensitivity, I understand, but because of carbs? I think when you're eliminating eggs because of 0.6 g carb, you're kind of losing sight of what the zero-carb diet is all about. Carbs are not the be-all and end-all of health. It's not about 0.6 g of carb, it's about food choices and hormonal response. Eggs are a highly nutritious food with an incredibly low insulin index. Far lower than meat. If we're talking about dietary glucose, a fat-adapted person would have to eat something like 80 eggs in a day, just to meet the minimum amount of glucose in a day that is needed by the body to keep functioning. Remember, the steak you're eating is turned into far more than 0.6 g of glucose through gluconeogenesis.

I was just avoiding eggs because that is what Stefanson did during his all  meat year that he was proving that one could not get scurvy eating that way. The reason 0.5g of carb matters to me is because when I ate eggs sometimes I was in the habit of eating 20 a day which would be 10g of carbs a day. That really didn't matter to me but when I came here and ya'll were talking about no-carb my goal was to keep under 5 g a day.

Stefansson did eat a few eggs when he was travelling and didn't have any other choice.

As of late, I haven't eaten eggs because I suspect I may be allergic to them. Eggs are indeed very nutritious but so are organ meats which I eat from time to time. I'm certainly gonna try eggs again and see how it goes.

I realize that some protein will convert to glucose and excess of it may prevent ketoadaptation. Until I ketoadapt, my protein consumption is kept to a minimum, even perhaps under what is considered the minimum so that this forces the body (at least those organs/tissues that can use it) to use ketones as fuel instead of glucose. Afterwards, I will gradually increase protein to a level that is more appropriate and which still allows for ketones to be the main fuel.

Did Stefansson eat eggs while he was being confined and studied in New York? He didn't want to eat eggs or dairy because he didn't want the skeptics to have the excuse that dairy or eggs were keeping him  healthy on his meat diet. He decided to eat all  meat so they wouldn't have that excuse.

I believe you're right. Stefansson only stuck to meat and seafood for those reasons you mentioned.

I also recall him mentioning that he would eat eggs when travelling and didn't have access to enough meat, Carnie.

    I'm not saying eggs are bad food. I think they are one of our greastest superfoods. But I think it is debateable whether eggs are superior to meat. I'm about to add them back into my diet. I'm gonna add 5 to 10 eggs back in because my little brother keeps chickens and he's collecting about 15 eggs a day right now and somebody's gotta eat all these fresh eggs.

I can't give you an exact reference, because I checked the book out of the library.  But I do recall him saying that while his buddy was "clean" for the year, because Stef did some travelling, he would on rare occasion have no choice but to eat eggs.  I can get the book back and reference it, but it's gonna take me a few weeks.

Ok, that's not it, I'm gonna have to check the book out again.  It's been a while since I've read it, but I recall him talking about being in a train station (or something similar) and there not being any other available food.  I don't think I'm remembering incorrectly, I read that book very carefully.  It'll just take a while.

The book I read was either Not by Bread Alone or the Fat of the Land, but I think they're just different editions of the same book.

I'm not saying you have to eat eggs. I'm just saying avoiding them due to carbs is kind of silly. But if that's not really the issue, then cool.

Let's not forget that Stefansson was one Man on a journey of his own. I am not disputing anything he did. But please remember we are here, now. Times have changed. Eggs may now have more of a place than they did back then by our increasing knowledge base.  Yup

Our technology is increasing beyond imagination!  Let go!
