Calorie restriction and exerciseOk, so if you're trying to restrict calories, but would like to continue lifting weights and want to build some muscle, what is the best way to cycle your calories to make the most of your workouts?
For example, if I'm lifting, say, twice a week - on Mondays and Thursdays, for example - should I keep calories low, except on Mondays and Thursdays, so that I can maximize muscle growth? Or does the real muscle growth happen the next day? So then I'd be restricting calories, except for Tuesdays and Fridays? If I am eating extra, how much extra do I need?
Or is this method not going to work and I should not try to combine the two (cal. restriction and lifting) and maybe try to stick to HIIT cardio as my exercise?

Eat a little more on the days you weight train if you want to.. weight train a few times a week and keep the reps low and heavy. Do not do cardio. If you need to or your calories are not that low then definitely stick to hiit. When you want to lose fat fast the emphasis is usually on maintaining what muscle you DO have, as you don't have a surplus of energy intake going to "building" your body...it's not likely you'll gain any muslce, though if you're new to training anything is possible
For more information check out bodyrecomposition.com and look at the psmf crash diet section.. I'm pretty sure I don't need to tell you to ignore the carby refeeds, their choices of food don't do us any good either (lots of whey usually because they're men and it's easy) but the principles are there, so is the experience with exercise.

I just went and poked around the recomposition site, it's changed a little and the section is now called "The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook." I haven't been there in a long time... Pregnancy and nursing isn't really the time for rapid fat loss. Anyway like I said, I'm sure I don't need to remind you to take the good stuff and leave the inappropriate, you know your food and your body better than most and aren't the type to get caught up in bs. I love to read about what people experience on various versions of low carb.
