Matt

Are we all just a bunch of food obsessives?

Over the past year I've stumbled accross a low carb diet by first seeing the biblelife website. Since then I read Bear's thread and decided to adopt the all meat diet. The results have been disastrous. I've never had any health problems in my life up until the past year and now they rule my life. Gout, a kidney stone, breathing problems, weight gain, constipation, depression, anxiety, mood swings, poor energy, and horrible torment that I've had to put my family through for living this lifestyle. Vegetarianism is often classified as a religion by meat eaters but why wouldn't carnivorism be classified as a religion? It all is a bunch of dogma. I've heard the arguments for low-carb and low-fat diets and maybe I've come to my senses because now I think the individuals who makes these claims for both sides are utter nut jobs. They both sound equally as stupid. The hierarchy of diet-book authors and internet bad asses try to use all this 'scientific' data of telling us a specific way to eat as simply a way of controlling us - and most of us have fallen for it hook, line, and sinker. Just about everyone on an internet forum about a specific diet is simply addicted to food in some way. The way the diet industry controls us is a lot like Hitler controlled Nazi Germany.

I hope I don't aggrivate anyone with my whining and complaining.

Best of luck to all and live your life like you really want to and not what some book-selling and internet control freaks are telling you to do.

I'm signing off for good.

Maybe venting your frustration with your life and society's dietary issues belongs in the discussion section?

I agree, fanatics all sound stupid except to their followers, or except in hindsight.  You must not be very old, or very intelligent though, to be bringing Nazi Germany into this.

Bye, Matt.  Wave   I do have to say, though, that your experience does seem unique among VLC dieters.  Most people seem to have great success.  Granted, not everybody seems able to get to their desired weight, but almost everybody does seem to report improved health.

Good luck!

Who are those "we" you are talking about?

Oh Matt, you will be missed (sniff) your wit, your insights, the way you took time to help and encourage those of us not blessed with your wealth of knowledge . Bawl  Those 14 posts you put up were just awe inspiring.  I will personally dig deep deep down and try to figure out how I am going to continue with the knowledge that you could not hack it.  So farewell Matt and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
Happy trails to you,
Keep smilin' until then.

Who cares about the clouds when we'ere together?
Just sing a song, and bring the sunny weather.

Happy trails to you,
Til we meet again.

Seemed to me a bit more of a flame than a bang...

It's saddening to see when people decide to stop no-carbing and think that they have to officially leave the forum forever and banish the idea that a no-carb. diet is absolutely incorrect, closing off their mind to all possibilities. There is so much more to learn and reflect on here at this forum than just simple no-carbing, even though it is the central theme of the site.

Fare thee well anyway, Matt. And come back and rejoin us any time!  Aye Aye

this person is either lying, rationalizing his lack of willpower, or never made it past the first couple of days when your body is transitioning into health. Either way this gets filed under propaganda for me.
