All Dairy Challenge

Ok Ava, hope you were serious ... all kind of dairy challenge, cream,  cheese (cow and goat - but I do love goat cheese most) yogurt, butter, eggs.

I will also keep vegies so I can make lovely LC crustless pizza and cauliflower cheese, spinage/yogurt and cumin dip with butter sauce - and most of all my fav yogurt soup etc etc.

I mentioned the cheese challenge to my DH, he didn't freak this time, seemed he's given up on me and my experiments Laugh  he just sighed and said, OK will go to the shops and get you all the cheeses you want Laugh   anyone here feels sorry for their other half? (will just a tiny bit? Laugh)

OK I am strting this morning with lots of cream in my coffee ...  cream makes me sooooooo happy (Ok Opiad/opiate effect - whatever,  natural calming herbal/other foods have been used for centuries in naturl medicine, nothing wrong with that me thinks) Laugh

Will honestly record results, and if I had any adverse effects Happy
ReddyMcMeaty

make sure you take some mag.
Avalon

Meg, because of the high calcium? Do you think Goat vs Cow would be in any way different regarding this? Goat having an alkaline effect and cow acidic...

Sandy! I love green smoothies with Goat Milk! I love the idea of a goat dairy, veggie challenge, but I gotta say I can't join today. Maybe soon though. My current approach is working and I don't want to mess with it. I love messing too, but, maybe soon  Wink

Pictures always welcome!

Good Luck!

Aren't we the Guinea Pig Crew!

First day went well -

B: 2 Coffee with lots of cream (I mainly drink decaf)
L: Roasted peppers and Feta cheese drenched in OO
D: Salad with Feta and asparagus in lots of pesto sauce and Caesar dressing.

Snacks: 3 baby bell cheese
SandyDown

oh and decided to have a glass of wine with my meal every night, this is because when having wine I always end up eating a lot slower... if I don't I tend to inhale my food Happy
Avalon

What kind of pesto and Ceasar do you use. I like Buitoni Pesto a lot. I've binged on Pesto and Pasta quite well thank you. But I've never made it fresh. Ceasar has to be homemade IMO. Any dressing with too many ingredients(store bought) freaks me out.

Somebody's a lacto vegetarian today Roll Eyes
SandyDown

both the pesto and Caesar used today are bought, I usually buy the least carby ones, both have trace carbs ( less than 1gm of carbs in 100 grams)  I hardly use it, its not a daily thing with me.

Used to use Pesto a lot with chicken fillets - really good Happy

But yeh home made is the best, and so easy to make Pesto at home... haven't tried Caesar at home, but this is cuz I hardly every use it at all.

btw its coming up to my TOM ... so wonder if my experiment this week would have different results !!  anyhow its a good experiment to see the effect of all dairy/no meat on me during TOM...

Oh - apart from the wine, am gona have to allow dark chocolate as a treat now and again Happy
hmm my cauliflower cheese in the over (for tomorrow of course Happy ) smells soooooo good ...  put loads of cream and chees in it Happy

This day's food would be the ultimate fat-maker for me. OMG add in the wine... don't get me started.
SandyDown

Red, it was extremely high fat menu today,  the roasted peppers were like quarter or half a cup, and the lettuce/asparagus was like one and a half cup, the rest was cheese Happy and lots of OO and high fat stuff, I believe carbs count would have been around 15-20 gm only – Ok  not counting the wine, but that’s not part of the experiment Happy will try to ease up on the wine tomorrow Happy    today  we had perfect sunny weather, and when i came home I sat in the sun lounge and felt like some sparkling Rose wine Happy

Anyway if I end up having cravings will definitely report back to you guys Smile
Carnation

If you don't mind my asking, why an "all-dairy" challenge?  Are you hoping for or expecting a certain result?

It's not the carbs I'm talking about! The veg, the glutamates from the cheese, the olive oil. These would all make me gain weight like crazy. That's just me though - more power to you. If I could eat cheese all day and not turn into a house, I assure you, I would.
ReddyMcMeaty

I think it's just an excuse to eat lots of the fatty delicious cow product.
Carnation

That sounds good.  Grin

Went to France a couple of times this year, ate what they ate rich food, rich cheese, and even croissant, and it didn’t' bother me, there was non of this after carbing up bloating /gassy or even water weight... read  bits about cheese and wine diets... but on every LC board cheese and dairy in general  have been given really b ad names,  as far as most LCers concerned its  the culprit of all their health problems... for me dairy has never been a really  big problem,  I am not even addicted to it, though I do like the cream calming effect and ensure I have it daily (yes some days I forget, hence I guess I am not addicted if I have to remind myself)

So comes this challenge,  all dairy to see if it really have any adverse effects on me… I am not her to prove or trash anyone’s ideas,  just to know  effect of dairy on me.  Btw: I did a no dairy challenge already,  didn’t think there was much change, apart from the fact I lost weight – but am sure this is because of the reduced calories/appetite due to only eating meat.   I understand that this board is all about carnivore meat eating, so am happy not  to continue registering my experiment here.

Well if I got fat from a cup of lettuce then will go ahead and publish the new scientific discovery… some how I don’t  think  lettuce will fatten me !!

No need to freak out - just a remark to say I am aware that this may not be the right place for me to document my experiment, the name of the board is Active No Carber... nothing to do with the other board, I was trying to be respectful  to others not offensive.   But apologies if it sounded like an offence to you.
Avalon

Good Morning,

Am I wrong in saying that I think we are becoming more food aware and tolerant here? That we're allowing each other the right to evolve or devolve Wink  as we take on these experiments? I love food experiments! It's what Stefansson and anyone who's learned anything is all about.

I've done the same thing Sandy. Sometimes I post in the naysay area, but I have a sense that this board is becoming something more  Roll Eyes

Funny, I bought Goat Milk this morning for a Goat Milk Smoothie day tomorrow. Not sure yet what will go into it, probably some greens and sweet fruit, but I need a change up. So tomorrow will be a dairy something day.

Best wishes every one!

Red, you cracked me up with this... Love the terminology.  Laugh

You know, this makes me think back to when I was actually putting on higher weight. I've been trying to recall what could have been the contributor there... and then with this it hit me... it was way back when I was eating CHEESE!!!!! God I remember being sooooo addicted to cheese. I couldn't get my meals down fast enough, which shows very obviously that its best for me to avoid all dairy. Especially like Bear has written, cheese totally binds me and is a sure fire way of giving me big brownies that, in the words of Bear, 'hurt like hell'.

I'm pretty sure constipation from cheese is a tell tale sign of intolerance or allergy.

Cheese is no good in MY book. Well, A1 dairy in general that is (cuz I can't speak for goat or A2 dairy since I've never tried either).

Bejebus, G, you gotta start putting poo alerts at the top of posts like this, so that the squeamish can pass on reading them.  Maybe put a big "P" at the beginning, sort of like a movie rating?

Loooooooooove to experiment...I'm driving my poor family crazy with all those food experiments  Bonkers And I eat 99% of  my food raw...so imagine!

And my friends think I'm just a nut.  Grin Athough one of my friends, Amanda, is considering eating this way, she is really struggling with her weight. She's even tried some raw meat. There's hope!

ha thats my name-Amanda- yea raw meats the best i probably eat 70 percent of my raw but not all because i just love scrambled eggs, and when the fat on steak gets liquidy mmm and bacon, but actually my bf came home the other day and i was eating raw bacon lol he freaked, and he actually will eat some meat raw, but his friends think were nutso, i wish  he'd do go close to zero carb but hes scared of losing weight last time he wanted to lose some belly fat (which is like nothing, hes fit) i told him ok go low carb, which to him meant bread, and cereal, he still had some vitamin waters and a tortillas or potatoes here and there and lost 15 lbs in 2-3 weeks, i mean he got thin! but i told him he needs to load up on the fat big time...anyways tell your friend to go raw she'll like it and if not to at least go VLC and eat raw as much as she can, thats what im doing- i was doing all raw awhile back but fruit got the best of me and i noticed i can overeat when i eat raw meat?! i dont know why, but i can EAT!
SandyDown

Ok, so far my observation on the all dairy experiment are as follows:

1- I struggled to keep up my protein intake to be high enough,  most days it was between 40-60 grams except on the days when I boosted with tofu or protein powder

2- I was satisfied with smaller portions or one helping, when I was eating some meats, I didn't know when to stop, I could eat loads of chicken wings or spicy meatballs,  one serving was never enough

3- I really enjoyed eating the all dairy way, I enjoyed being inventive with my menus,  had to try so many recipes, lets say it really did widen my food horizon and life was a lot more enjoyable, I am relaly looking forward  to each meal with joy now... and eat really well on smaller portions,  when eating meats I didn't feel as much joy, it was getting a bit old and i was a bit lazy with inventing new recipes

4- No change to sleep pattern

5- Not much change in my weight, for the last 3 weeks I've been bouncing up and down the 2 lbs which I have been doing since reaching maintenance  around 3 months ago

6-Lastly and most importantly, my small amount of psoriasis on my knee has improved greatly and hardly visible now... this happened to me a few months ago when I did the Eskimo /fish and seafood challenge,  it seems my skin improves every time I stop eating red meat    Wow   Cry  during the fish experiment I thought it could either be the fish oil  or the coconut oil,   however now am sort of thinking it must be the lack of red meat...   I know this is something everyone here would  be outraged with... but tis true,  every where I read in the last 7 years says I need to quit red meat, but I never believed it before!!

Psychologically I have developed this idea that it is so possible, so eay and so enjoyable  to low carb, be at a good weight and healthy  without meat  - I used to be a vegetarian in a previous life- obviously the vegetarian way of eating caused me so many health issues, but now am thinking it was because i made the wrong choices e.g. pasta and grains instead of sticking to veg salads (good)dairy and tofu/Quorn... now I know there has been issues with soy products, but from reading its GMO soy not organic that is the problem (hopes) .

Not sure how long it will take me to start accepting eating meat again now, I really never thought I can develop this psyche that I don't need meat again!!  I thought I'd be missing and craving my steak and ribs etc, Also I am hesitant because  no meat  improved my psoriasis greatly  … so thinking of just adding fish to start with and we'll see what happens?
ReddyMcMeaty

I actually have a friend who believes that all you need is bread and cheese and salad....he's always going on about how you don't need more than cheese.

And I wonder how he's doing? I'm not being sarcastic here. Just curious.
ReddyMcMeaty

He's actually in incredible shape.  He is a former gymnast, and honestly obsessive about being fit.  He hovers around 5-7 percent body fat at all times.  He's 45, looks 30, and performs well in all of the sports he does.

Is he single?

I like flexible men!  Bonkers

He is!!   I'd love to set him up with someone, the catch is that he is in Munich.   He's very sexy,  has a fantabulously clean apartment and loves to do all outdoor things, go to the opera and shop.

That's why we have airplanes and for the right man, I'm willing to move. Europe is a beautiful place.

especially Munich!  He actually goes to Canada on occasion, for some reason.  Either MOntreal or TO.. forget which one.  Yup
Kristi31

I'll make sure he has a great time in Montreal... Wink
