When a person is eating a bad diet, then they develop bad skin and other health issues, but that doesn't only apply to vegetarians, you can be a vegetarian and have a very bad diet, or be a vegetarian and eat a good low carb diet without the insulin rush...
OK this is not directed at anyone, but I don't like putting others down just to justify your own ways and look smug, am better than them na na na nana kinda of thing (I think there was a story about that in the bible), stop painting all vegetarians as ignorant high carbers, many of them are well aware of insulin and deficiency issues now and working to rectify their diets without having to go against their principals.. good for then I say, I wish I can be so determined.
Ok stopped now |

Sandy, what's with the 'tude? Who is putting people down? No one is painting anyone as ignorant. A study was posted - that's all. We are very accepting, here. I'm not sure why you're so defensive to everything said, here, but lose the attitude, will you? _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I just finished reading Eades Post. I don't read very fast so I just lost an hour of my day wading through the post and the comments to follow. Maybe it's the AGEs in my eyes
I must say it does bother me, the lumping of generalizations and such. Eades was being snippy and honestly, it's his blog and he has every right to be any way he wants. He even explained it as best he could. But it strikes that negative chord in me when I simply wanted to read the information, rather than him making some comment that felt like a personal attack, which spilled over to me.
Hey, to eat his own.
One poster asked:
| Quote: | It looks like the culprit in the vegetarians’ diet was the fructose since they ate much more fructose rich fruit and vegetables and three times as much honey as the omnivores. Say you have a vegan who does not eat honey and does not eat any dried fruit or very much fresh fruit, who eats primarily starchy vegetables, beans and intact whole grains (cooked by boiling or steaming) which are not high in fructose with the addition of moderate amounts of fresh vegetables and a small amount of fresh fruit, who eats no processed grains, no oils, and no baked foods. Would this person AGE as fast as an omnivore?
Could be, but I have seen no studies on this so I can’t say for sure.
Cheers–

That sounds very much like McDougall to me and I was suprised it wasn't mentioned.

I don't think she was referring to people here red. The whole Article was very anti-veg in a snippy way. |

Then why did she quote Meatythang? This was not Sandy's first rant about people here being judgemental, which I happen to disagree with.
I read the article and I understand why he's snippy. Because many vegetarians have been snippy with him about what he recommends, medically. Fine to eat a certain way for moral reasons - as you say 'to eat his own'. But to imply that it's superior in every way, including for health, means you're opening yourself up to criticism and you can't complain when research proves the contrary. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. hey - you two talking about me as if I don't exist.
Ava, thanks for defending me you are so lovely
Red, you are the queen of defensive , don't like to put others down just to feel so smug... why is that so defensive??? Am not even vegetarian, I was thinking of Ava also for my experiment I have spent a long time reading various vegetarian forums and books, and found out a lot, as I said many are well aware of insulin issues, and the concious ones are doing something about it, increasing their protein and reducing processed bad carbs... fact not defensive, and not tuding or whatever you call it. |

the science
large quantities of fruit-sugar can and often does predispose one to unhealthy insulin fluctuations.
i have it on good authority that a steady state of insulin in the human body is key to a long life.
therefore Eades, is easily supported by this fact alone.
