Procure a Propane torch (uses the same fuel as a gas grill). Get it at a hardware store. Mine cost $13.00. It's a brass nozzle that screws onto a can of fuel, which should come with it.

Get a shish-kebab skewer (4 for a dollar at Wal-Mart --no shame!)

Put the meat on the skewer any way that you can hold it up and rotate it for torching. The torch won't work if you tilt it too far. Smile

You can use small pieces or whole steaks, as long as you can hold it up and reach all the surfaces.

Light the torch and blast the meat, being careful not to cause burning and smoking of the fat. You can play with the distance and flame to suit your fancy.

The idea is to just scorch the outside of irregular pieces of raw meat to kill the few bacteria there, eating the meat bleu to rare. It's surprising how little the meat cooks inside when you do it this way. I'm sure you can continue cooking it further, but there are plenty of other ways to do that!

I got this idea from seeing Julia Child torch bell peppers and creme brulee on TV about 15 years ago. Hey, one omnivorous cooking skill that translates! Yea!

I put a "tool kit" (torch and skewer) in my car, so I can stop at any grocer, get some meat, and prepare it anytime and anywhere I want.

bon appetit Happy

Hey, now that's a great idea for eating on the run! Yup
