ftp://ftp.cordis.europa.eu/pub/life/docs/trichopoulou.pdf

Meat doesn't seem to be up there.

Just say'in  Grin

What?

Edit: But seriously, I'm just trying figure things out. Every time I Google I'm hoping to learn something, from some thing I didn't know before.

The scales don't appear to tip in favor of the Eskimos for Longevity.

Considering the environment Eskimos lived in, it is not surprising.

Lifespan is not necessarily an indication of quality of nutrition.

Just thinking out loud...

I type in 'Meat Longevity'- why doesn't it bring up the benefits of meat on a long life?

It brings up something like this:

Quote:
Eating Little Meat Linked to Longevity
Eating no or little meat could add years to your life, so a recent report from the Center of Cancer Research in Germany (DKFZ) suggests. The DKFZ studied more than 2,000 vegans, vegetarians, and occasional meat-eaters for 22 years. Compared with the general population, the study revealed a significant increase in life expectancy. For every 100 deaths in the general population there was just 59 in the study group. However, the results showed that shunning all animal products, such as vegans do, or turning vegetarian and eating a totally meat and fish free diet is not necessarily the best way of extending life. For every 100 deaths among vegans, there were just 66 among vegetarians, and 60 among occasional meat-eaters.

The study also examined the effect of other factors such as smoking, drinking, and exercise, on longevity. Results showed that smokers had a 70% higher risk of death compared to non-smokers, while participants who exercised the most had a 30% lower risk of death compared with those leading a couch-potato lifestyle. The researchers were unable to make any clear conclusions about the impact that moderate alcohol consumption has on longevity.

Which doesn't bother me really, because I am still eating fish and eggs. Practically no Dairy, but I haven't consciously said no more to dairy. AND I'M A SUSHI ADDICT!

Wow  but as I said, I'm really trying to figure this out. What if it is something as simple as just not eating Cows? Maybe just Lamb and Fish, or Fish and eggs? Frogs and Cats  Yup  Sorry Goopy!

Or just about too much weight?

UGH!

I know, the Eskimo ref was not well thought out. Just there aren't many civis who ate high meat- and I suppose the Eskis were more Seal and fat...
