Interesting.  For the past 500 years they've been telling people to take cod liver oil, and now they say cod liver oil is bad for you.  So it goes.

By the way, I'm weird, I LIKE the taste of cod liver and other fish oils.

OMG... don't get me started... This stems from the previously distributed article/newsletter from the Vitamin D Council that now advises complete avoidance of pre-formed retinol/vitamin A, and only reliance on carotenes as your form of vitamin A, because they claim that retinol/pre-formed vitamin A directly bypasses the safety mechanism developed for generating A from carotenes 'as needed', and pre-formed A competes with the VDR and suppresses gene transcription by vitamin D.

Some of this is true, but most of it, for me, the jury is still out... I have high suspicions of their science behind this, as it was a 'meta-analysis' of a bunch of isolated substance studies and epidemiological studies.

The study/paper and newsletter that prompted this article from Mercola was put together by the same, although well intentioned, idiots that don't understand the difference between exogenous D from foods and supplements and the activated D created in skin from direct sun and bright light exposure and their respective effects on the immune system, and are subsequently creating a huge science experiment by recommending high levels of D supplementation.  I personally fell prey to their still incomplete science backed recommendations, but no more.

Don't always believe everything you read/hear!!!
