Who's got a New Year challenge planned for themselves?
I'm thinking of a one-week "no junk food" challenge for myself.
As anyone that knows me is well aware, I'm not super strict, but I do try to keep the junkier fare in check at least a bit. Lately, that hasn't been the case though. To say the least. lmao
So, I'm looking at a 5-7 day period without any of my beloved Snickers bars, pizza (Yeah...I'm including that too HAHA!), etc.
Hopefully to reign myself in and at least get it back in check to where I was before.

My New Years Resolution.
Crush my enemies, see them driven before me and hear the lamentations of their women...and maybe drop 8 lbs. _________________ Viking Dan

Good luck and Happy New Year, Conan.
I actually know someone on another board that uses that line as his sig. Minus the 8lbs. thing, that is. LOL _________________ "Change. Nothin' stays the same. Unchained...And ya hit the ground runnin'."

Wow, Dan, it's a good thing you didn't say 'the open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair'. Then you'd be open to a real mocking.
I, for once, don't have a new years challenge, except to just keep doing what I'm doing. My goals are not really body/food related, this year. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

Well, that's just one of the things on my list. (Yeah, I have a list. lol)
I'm always "just about there" and then I kinda stop giving a shit, so this time around I really want to make a concerted effort to stick with it. Even if I ease off the throttle, I don't want to give myself free reign to do whatever the fuck I want with my diet.
I like to enjoy shit, but there's a fine line between enjoyment and gluttony. haha
And Red,
It's this humble ape's opinion that you have a slammin' bod and don't need to worry on that front at all.

Yes, I'm sure Andy will adore that. I'll have to get one of the ladies here to leave him one, too, so he doesn't feel left out. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

Ok, how about this...
I'll hide under your desk and poke my head out at random intervals and say it.
And if there's anything else I could do for ya while I was down there... _________________ "Change. Nothin' stays the same. Unchained...And ya hit the ground runnin'."

I have to say I agree with Simian, and not because I'm being all girly supportive. Different types of bodies look perfect with different levels of bodyfat and your level is "perfect" imo.
I have lots of goals
On the decluttering organization homefront, I want to run an efficient home and make things simple
I need to get out of the apartment and start a life (albeit tiny, like a few hours of week) of my own away from the babies!! It all starts with German classes in Feb.
Um yeah.. lose the pregnancy weight. Like all of it - or as low as it will get while still nursing, since that will be going on for a couple more years.
The egging was pushed aside a little, but I enjoyed it so I'm egging January _________________ "Man lives on one quarter of what he eats. On the other three quarters lives his doctor." |

I am so with you on the organizational front. We are planning to move, a-fucking-gain, probably in about 4 months, so this will give me a huge chance to pare down big time.
Also I will be egging it, mainly - although now I think of that less as a challenge and more as a way of life!
Oh and I agree with Simian, too, re: sexy bitchness for you, Meg. He's on a role today. You look incredible - and to think you've had 2 babies in a short time, is even more impressive. My body had trouble bouncing back just from being fat and I never even went through pregnancy or childbirth or nursing.
As for my 'perfect' body, is all I can say. I definitely have more fat than I'd like or than I probably need, but I'm at a point now where I have to start appreciating how far I've come and focusing more on mental health and satisfaction. The weight thing has taken up a lot of my mental power and when I think of what I could have achieved had I put that energy toward something productive and mentally challenging... Wow. I'm not saying I should have abandoned my diet - but the worrying and punishing myself? I could really have done without that. Now that I'm getting a tad older, I can't justify waiting to feel good about myself until x, y, z happens. I have to start being grateful for what I have now.
This is all a goal, mind you - not something that I can guarantee that I can be every single moment of the day. I'm aiming for personal happiness and gratitude. And every step closer to that I get, the better off I'll be. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

I haven't done half bad for myself. I can improve and shouldn't stop trying to, but there's no reason I shouldn't like myself for what I am right now and should redirect some energy towards other things as well.
I'm glad to see you saying something like that. Because from what I know of you, you've made yourself borderline nuts at times over crap like this.
It's time to appreciate that you're a very foxy lady and one hell of a person most importantly.
Does any of that preceding ramble make sense? LOL
And as for me being on a roll today...
I'm only speakin' the truth.
Sue me...I like to tell sexy ladies that they are indeed sexy. _________________ "Change. Nothin' stays the same. Unchained...And ya hit the ground runnin'."

I thought of a diet-related new year's resolution! No sweeteners. I honestly believe that sweeteners, whether they're caloric or not, trigger an insulin response in sensitive people and I'm pretty sure I'm one of them. Plus, they keep you dependent on a sweet taste, which is pretty stupid if you're trying to eat like a carnivore. You really do stop craving sweets if you stop exposing yourself to them.
I don't have sweeteners every day, I never drink diet pop, and, even when I did have sweeteners, it would just be a drop or two of stevia in a coffee here and there, or some splenda in whipped cream, but I'm not going to do that anymore. I find that I would sometimes keep eating past being full, knowing that I had that sweet treat coming. I've already given them up for 3 days, but I don't plan on starting again. I find actually, I've been having more carbs than usual in the past 3 days (a little cup of sheep's yogurt and some 18% cream in my coffee, which is about 1 g carb per tablespoon) and I'm not putting on weight like I usually would. I think it's the lack of sweeteners.
I'd pick cream and yogurt over sweets any day of the week, anyway. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

Look into something called "cephalic-phase insulin response." It's the phenomenon where you can secrete insulin in anticipation of food. I think this could also been what's responsible for insulin response to artificial sweeteners. |

Yes, I've heard of this before. I think my body just loves pumping that stuff out. Probably from one of my stupid mutated genes... _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy. I make sure to get 5-10 servings of herbivore per day. |

No joke, me too. I just read that you're in the 100 lb. club, guess I hadn't read enough around here. I don't know anyone else who has lost that much weight and kept it off. Actually, I don't know anyone who has really kept ANY amount of weight off. I think former chubs are more reactive to insulin forever and ever, thanks to screwing up the insulin response in the first place. I know without even asking how careful you must have to be to stay at a constant weight, it takes much more attention than a "normal" person. |

This is why I laugh when my co-workers (especially the ones who have only known me since being a normal weight) are constantly trying to get me to eat 'bad' things. Just a taste! Come on - loosen up! The whole 'you don't need to diet' thing. Once you've been fat - that's it. You're on a diet for life, unless you want to be fat again. It took me years to lose the weight, but I bet I could gain it back in as little as 4 months if I went back to eating like I used to. _________________ I'm a vegetable-eater by proxy.
